so where do you think i should go now, im not too bothered about shopping in there, its not really a local store, but i'd like to go still do a bit of R&Ring in my local store if i get overcharged, would a snotty letter to HO actually do anything or reward me with any satisfaction?

I appreciate all your words guys makes me feel better about myself and not like a criminal like when i was sat in that room

So if you've already been refused R&R for the PS2/game offer at the store you bought it in, can you take it back to another store to try? I've got a copy of the offer SEL as well in case that can help me

No unfortunately I don't think you can. R+R is a result of a mistake by a store. Its highly unlikely that any other store will refund you for soemthing that wasn't their fault.

Also, the question of proof comes into it, even if you have the actual SEL you can't prove where it came from and when you got it. For example you could have taken an SEL before the offer ended, waited for a bit then bought the product after the price had increased (I'm not accusing you by the way! just an example that has happened!).

Overcharges need to be sorted out with the store in question ASAP. If your not satisfied with the outcome in store chase it up with head office.

Sounds like Tesco treated you like a shop lifter so think you comitted a criminal offence.

You did admit trying it on twice in 2 different stores which shows premeditation, and the fact you actually did do it, those two elements create an offence/ criminal act, (at least in Mr T's eyes), so its not that surprising they got a bit heavy with you.

They are trying to protect themselves, and by the look of it, they chose you to make an example out of.

Not siding with them, if they over charge then it is their fault, not yours.

Doesn't mean two wrongs make a right.

It's not as if he walked out of the shop without paying for the item, though, is it? I really think the police would be mightily miffed if some Tesco bod rang them to report this alledged 'criminal act', don't you?

he walked out of the 1st shop without payng for the items, so assume they (T) were trying to stop it happening again, not sure if i'd want the police involved over a few £'s worth of games.

agree, police would be miffed about being called into this, as is trivial really compared to what else goes on.

also cannot se T pulling the policy, that would be detremental to the majority of customers who don't R&R,

why should they suffer when T can just carrying overcharging them ?

I think they would have a real problem with pulling the policy as there are many people who don't just do this R&R for the free products but also because they resent tesco's power in the market and what they see as illegal mispricing. When you consider that potentially Tesco could be fined up to £2,000 for EACH misprice (by this I mean each leg of lamb or CD or DVd whatever that is mispriced!) then I'm sure there would be a significant number of people only too willing to 'dob' them to TS on a regular basis. 2 months ago (when I started this hobby!) I wouldn't have dreamt of doing this sort of thing, now I would.

Agreed, because they would have to explain why, and that would expose the flaw in the pricing system that allows this to happen, not exactly looking good on the corp front there, but they would spin it..for sure to make it look like RR's are to blame and not their own inefficientcey,

So I guess if you want to make a stand, you go T, buy the stuff, allow for the overcharge, don't get a rr, go to TS with all the evidence, they prob tell u go back to the store, and only come back if you have exhausted al of the store policy 1st..by which time T would have given RR just to get rid of you..sound about right ?

I semm to remember B&Q receiving a huge fine for mispricing a few years ago. Anyone put some bones on that story?

Can anyone really see Tesco trying to prosecute someone for fraud over this?!
Your lawyer: "So Mr Tesco, you KNEW these items were illegally priced, yet rather than reprice them legally you left them on shelf and when my client tried to claim a refund because of YOUR ILLEGAL action you had two security guards and a manager detain my client? Do you really think such behaviour is acceptable from a FTSE100 company?"
    Mr Tesco: "Er......."

At the very least I would write a letter of complaint to my local Trading Standards officer, stating that you had been overcharged and when you complained Tesco got security to detain you, accused you of fraud, photographed you and sent your details to all stores in the area. I'm sure Tesco will get at least a phone call.
