I think that's probably taking to too far, rather make sure you've got all the requisite information before making a purchase.
Shutting oneself out of online shopping altogether is a damn expensive waste of money as long as the purchaser keeps in mind "caveat emptor"Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

hi izools, this scam would never have happened if the purchaser had seen the goods. People can and do lie about products they sell, it has happened to me with ebay...i got my money back but I had hassle before I got it. I still use ebay, but buy reasonably locally (i bought a family tent) I contacted the seller and asked if I could see it before bidding and they were fine, it was as decribed and I got a really good tent for our holidays. It's different if you buy a new cooker from Tesco online but ebay and other second hand goods are not so cut and dry0

I don't know if preloved costs money, but if not you could put your pictures on there.0

I've bought loads of stuff on eBay, there is nothing wrong with buying online as long as you are savvy about it and make sure that you cover yourself if there are any problems.0

One way of doing that is buying via paypal.
I bought some hotel vouchers from a sellers via BACS.
They went bankruppt (or dissapeared).
I was really luky that my vouchers were honoured by a large hotel chain (not sure they were aware or not).
But smaller hotels were not honour the vouchers and some people were out of pocket hundreds of pounds.
So always pay by paypal EVEN if you have to offer to pay the sellers fees.
If the postage/fees etc. make it too expensive then you need to reconsider your purchase.0 -
hello
As a recent bride I am very annoyed for you it must be upsetting!
I sold all my bridesmaid dresses on Pre-loved and I packed them up well and made sure they got them safely!
I would deff return to the sender demanding a refund as this was miss-sold to you and go through small claims.
we just sold our guitar hero on ebay, it left us in perfect condition and after the new people had it a week they are saying its broken and want their money back. We know it wasnt us so its either the post or them, but what are we to do? we now have a broken product so have lost the money and the product. Its a shame there is no way to prove things are in good condition from both points of view!
on a personal note, if you are going to look for a dress again once this is all sorted out I have just had mine cleaned and will be putting it on Pre-loved for about the same price, there are honest people out there so dont let it put you off hun!0 -

I don't know what guitar hero is but if something is expensive enough to justify the effort, then it's not too difficult to video an item, show the serial number and show it working.0 -
its like an xbox game and comes with a plastic guitar and we had drums too. We took photos of it etc, my husband dealt with it through his ebay and he has an excellent score and sells lots of things. The photos show its fine and I think its still under warranty to be honest so its quite new but still means we have the hassle of sorting it whilst the buyer in my opinion broke it and blamed us - we even wrapped it all in tons of bubble wrap!
These things happen but wedding dresses are more personal and so more upsetting than a computer game.
please Kim has it all sorted now!0 -
So sorry to hear about this, what an awful person  Glad you got your money back though.
Not sure if it's any help, but when we got married 4 years ago, I sourced my dress online. After lots of research as I was of course wary of doing the wrong thing, but everyone recommended www.netbride.com.
So I took the plunge, and got a fantastic Maggie Sottero dress at a fraction of the UK price (they are a proper authorised dealer) - and strangely it even had a faster delivery than I was being quoted by UK shops! Great service, kept me informed all the way and kept their promises. Would definitely recommend.
No idea if it's still as good a site now, but just a suggestion for you. You were spending £400 on a second hand dress, it cost me less than £450 for a brand new one online so worth a thought.
Best of luck!0 -
Ok, you have the responce because you opened a dispute in paypal.
You need to reply to that email in a cool calm collected manner, stating that all damage, dirt etc should of been in the item description and since they were not, this is the reason you feel that the item was not as described. Paypal monitor the emails you are sending throught the dispute, then after 30 days they will find in favour of the buyer or the seller.....normally the odds are in favour of the buyer so you stand a good chance if you stick to the dispute and don't close it because you think its hopeless, just respond to the email, stay polite but firm and don't give up.0
