Just thought Id update for this week to keep myself going! ;)

    MF activities for the week
.batch cooking and have not wasted any food this week, I am hoping to get out shopping bills down to 100p/m not sure if it is doable , but hoping it might be..
.on the subject of food, am gonna use up some of our stuff today to bake...scones and cookies methinks...mmmm....this MF lark is not good for the waistline I dont think...:rotfl:
.have started xmas planning, have set a money limit with family and the rest are getting hm pressies (fudge, chocolates, wine, I balk at how much we used to spend on xmas pressies when actually no one needs in and money is tight for everyone, so I bit the bullet and decided to highlight that fact and i think everyone was okay with it!
.freebies: Oh my goodness had no idea what you can get for free if you ask!! have frequented the freebies board on here and so far have had:
free chocolate (still waiting for this...going to see if I can add to the xmas pressie stash but that it unlikeley itll last that long!)
free box of snacks from graze.com
    free mascara
    2 sets of free teabags
have also listed 3 things on amazon and got 2 box sets to list as well

on the non-MF front I got a parking fine- really annoyed !
just needed to get the money and MF motivation rolling again! :)

    done okay this week ..
1)have sold a couple more things on amazon which shall go into my "dont get into debt "-fund
2)baking done (and mostly eaten! ;) ) not sure cakes and biscuits are the most healthy things to cook, but its using up stuff we already had in the cupboards
    3) have decluttered half of the house (as per memorygirls thread) took ages and am aching today as a result but the rooms are lovely and much calmer without all the "stuff" lying around ("stuff" is now in the other room :rotfl:)
    4) reckon I have got grocery spends down to about 100-150 a month.... aiming for £100 for next month

so with all that done, should be able to start OPing from end of nov/beginning of dec... also trying to stash away for a holiday as we havent had one this year and its been a pretty stressfulone, so we really could do with a break...am thinking somewhere hot maybe feb/march next year ... will be as barganous as I can get it but not totally frugal as I need a proper break!

clearly am quite sad as getting excited about the time coming when I can actually make an OP...even just a little one! :rotfl: :rotfl: note to self..must get a life! :rotfl:

I'm not sure I understand what you mean....? A life, I'm sure I have one somewhere ....... looks under bed...ahhh here it is...blows dust off... I'll sell it to you for a reasonable amount :D and then put the proceeds towards the mortgage

thought Id do a quick sunday update as its cold and miserable here so am sat with a cuppa catching up on the MF world!
not much to say but posting keeps me in check because I am sad! ;) (Smlsave if the offer of that life you have is still on?...)
have stocked up well and truly for winter with our first ever online shop (£10 off voucher) ... was definitely worth doing and so easy! wouldnt do it every week as cost a few quid to have it delivered, but we definitely now have enough rice, pasta, tinned food plus cleaning stuff, toileteries and loo roll to probably last us till xmas (oooo....i feel a challenge coming on! :rotfl:) plus got a few bits which will do as xmas presents, including chocolates and biscuitswhich I have labelled with a note instructing no one to eat as they are for xmas!
have also stocked up on baking stuff so there is stuff in the cupboard which can make cakes, scones, cookies and biscuits and also flour for our breadmaker - now I will have to look on the OS board or here for any tips as I have never used the thing in my life (MIL gave it to us) and it looks really complicated! I read through the instructions but it seems like hard work (although people assure me it isnt!) so my task for this week is to try and make a loaf of bread!.... ooo... if it works maybe Ill have a challenge of not buying bread again till xmas too??!
so an expensive stock up and trying to only spend £30-£50 to last us till end of october but we will only need fruit/veg, sandwich fillings and whatever meat we are cooking to go with the storecupboard ingredients, so I reckon it should be manageable.. have defrosted scones out the freezer and making stew for dinner which will last us 2 or 3 days so mrtyo wont complain! ;)
have about £20 from amazon coming and have pretty much sold everything I can now (except OHs stuff but I think he has cottoned onto my selling spree and will notice! :rotfl:)

I will post an SOA soon too(realised Ive never done one here) to figure out if there is anything else I could be doing... I dont think there is, but you never know!
right , off for another cuppa and then to start making stew for dinner.....mmmmmm....

  • Glad you enjoyed the online food shopping experience - we use it for weekends we are away and don't want to come home to mother hubbard's cupboards! If you have a mr t card, they keep sending me money off vouchers which is good as I have used up my first time shopping discounts. Have £4 off £30 at the mo, but not sure I need to use it after mega Lidl shop!

What sort of bread maker is it? If it is a panasonic, I can try and dig out link to online manual, it has lots of fab recipes in it. Well worth working out how to use it - no shop bought bread can compare!

Hope you enjoyed stew - definitely the right weather for it! I've just about managed to fight the temptation to put the heating on!!

sorry to dissapoint not used the breadmaker yet...
have got the instruction book out again tho so does that get me some bonus points? ...I know it cant be that hard (its not a panasonic tho thanks for the offer of help mw)...I am determined to crack it tomorrow...also important as we only have 2 rolls left without defrosting some and am doing that as a last resort..how hard can it be? :rotfl:
its feeling bizzarely wintery here today , stew, heating on ... hmmm..not quite right for the end of september which last time I checked was normally still quite sunny and warm! ah well

no MF achievements today really other than not spending any money today ! would definitely do another online shop as resists the temptation of the supermarkets (ie, chocolate and cake aisle) but may have to do some baking tomorrow to make up for it..

    :)
