Hey froggy
nope not paranoid- just knew you were good with maths and the countdowns!
yep think I will try and cut out things like parking and work lunches where possible (or use vouchers/freebies)
car maintenence prob wont be as high so once MOT done I will put the rest in savings/mortgage
pay increase will help too!
now just to work on my impatience of wanting it all gone right now! :rotfl:0 -

Looking good tyo, great you are saving as well as OP'ing.
Just wondering if you've missed anything off - no tv licence/council tax? Is this because you are in OH's place at the mo? Not sure what household maintenance covers - this is quite a large amount?
Doing v well on your food budget, and also if you only spend £6.50pm on food for work that'd be great!
Might be worth keeping a spending diary for a little while to see if your budgeted spends meets your actual spends. No money at all for clothes  - even I need a hundred quid a year :rotfl:.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
OPs 2011-2016 = £45K 2017 OPs = £9250.200 -
Hi mw
yes I did leave off clothes... was thinking maybe that could come out of the £75 p/m ( wont need them every month!) I did buy quite a few earlier this yr so may not need much (Im not that keen on shopping for clothes if I dont have to! ....
) am hoping to see if get money/vouchers for xmas/bday which I shall donate totally to a shopping spree if I need!
yes odd bills are because we split who pays for what , maintenence is ground rent/service charge type thing
not sure food budget will stay quite as low as at the moment Ive got the time to bake/make things from scratch- but can aim for that
spending diary a good idea as will stop money getting "lost" every month like it used to..:rotfl:
now its just the few years of waiting whilst this all takes effect to leave me with little/no mortgage...hmmmm...0 -
Hi
No interest on either house, keep telling myself its because its due to being near Christmas and people don't want to move
But just spent a week at Center Parcs, so BF now wants to live in a tree top house

Hey radish
thats a shame about the lack of interest- I think you are probably right though with xmas right round the corneryour OHs dream for a treetop house sounds cheaper than my OHs dream of a castle tho!
best of luck with the house sales, I am looking to sell mine in the next year or so , long gone are the times where it would sell in 5 minutes I guess!
today feeling tired and a bit poorly..have made veg soup with a load of leftover veg, frozen some and had the rest with posh whoopsied bread! also made chocolate cakes (purely medicinal of course!) shopping should be under budget this month according to my lists (oh I really do have no life! :rotfl:) and a new higher interest savings ac set up. another bk on amazon gone so an extra £8 or so after posting ..
to do this week:
sort out flu jab
do rest of monthly food shop and make up some meals for freezer0 -
Hi tyo,
All I can think of is that I think you could save a little bit on the breakdown cover. We use Autoaid and it costs £37pa for the equivalent of top level AA/RAC cover. I know it isn't much but it was the only place I could spot a possible saving for you. More details in Martin's article on the motoring tab.

Thanks Katsu
will definitely look into the breakdown cover options!
have had a play around with the finances from Jan 2011 and reckon if I made the maximum OP possible I could be MF in 7 years!!! this would depend on many variables though including job being secure, and interest rates not rising!
anyone else find themselves thinking that if they just play around enough they may find a way to pay off the entire mortgage like next week?
(pencekeeper, Billy and anyone else who is going to pay thiers off next week I dont include you in that! :rotfl:) I find I constantly think about money now , and not always sure its a good thing as I can wind myself in circles wanting it all to be gone "right now" and probably miss out on life along the way...the ever elusive balance (did someone say they knew how to get it once? :rotfl:)
anyway, not much else I can report till the OPs kick in I guess (other than if I win the lottery *crosses fingers and toes and reminds self must remember to buy a lottery ticket in order for this plan to have a chance of working* ) , grocery shopping should come in around or even under budget this month, freezer is full of stuff we can use (then it needs defrosting before I fill it again- must resist filling it with cheap/whoopsied stuff until Ive done this!) my amazon pile is down to 2 things then the rest is in a box for a carboot at some point next year... no other way of making money/cutting down (other than above lottery win) so now its just a waiting game I guess....
hmmmm...patience was never one of my virtues! :rotfl:0 -

I admit I do but its counter-productive with me as I see how long its going to take and then think blurgh and go on a spending mini-spree
What was it you were saying about patience? :rotfl:Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

) and interest rates not rising! :rotfl: hopeful I guess , and would involve quite a tight budget (£70 a month for fun stuff , one cheapish holiday a year and sticking to a strict food budget) ..but as I tend to get quite obsessed with numbers and counting and re-counting I think I might just set up the OP from January and leave it (and try to forget about it) to see what happens..

Fully agree with you TYO.. I seem to spend an awful load of time on trying to cut out everything in the budget to pay off the mortgage, then reality strikes, and I discover that we need to eat in the next 10 years!!
Work is awful here at the moment, therefore I will definitely buy a couple of lottery tickets this weekend... I have to get out of the rat race!!!

Hey froggy
good luck on the lottery! (remember who your MF friends are tho? :rotfl:) sorry work is miserable at the moment, I hear ya on that one... paying off the mortgage for me is a lot about getting out of the rat race and being able to live a life more of my choosing than being at the mercy of an employer- not that I plan to not work, but knowing you could turn around and tell them where to stick it
would be wonderful (just the knowing in itself would make the rat race more bearable I think!)
keep plugging away, we shall get there- with or without the lottery!

if you find some patience throw some my way huh?
I have never been good with short term sacrifice for long term gain (therefore dieting would be a nightmare for me so need to stay away from the baked goods before I will have to! :rotfl:) ... I can relate to seeing how long itll take and needing something to cheer me up (often some cake and a cuppa!) ...funny, as before I cottoned onto the whole MF lark I had no issue with the fact Id be paying my mortgage for another 30 years... 0
