hey froggy
good idea on the clubcard vouchers and sunday night stays ..I will definitely have a look into that!
Radish-are you a secret mechanic?..;) no idea about the spark plugs but OH will - it seems to be running fine so keeping fingers crossed but will get him to check it over properly ... honestly cant remember if the radio etc kept working ...I think everything cut out from what I can remember!
yep am pleased I have at least started the OPs - the only way is up (or down should I say!) from here ..how is your house hunt/sale going?
am finding it hard not to spend money on things to "cheer myself up" when at work- nothing major , but the likes of sweets, coffee, etc ... am not thinking quite so frugally when I get home am knackered and cant be bothered to cook or even heat up my pre-frozen dinner as tonight , when dinner was cereal followed by chocolate for desert!
(not planning on making a habit of that) gonna chill in front of the tv and have an early night as its the kind of weather that makes me want to hibernate! 0 -
no real mortgage updates ... its still depressing to see only £200 of £600 ish paid come off the balance each month!! but good motivation I guess

holiday savings starting to take shape tho- about £200 so far

At least you have realised early, even though I knew this was how a mortgage worked it still took me 7 years before I thought I'm not having this, I'm going to OP. Interest added this year will be under £1K so happy about that
No house news
Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Hi there TYO,
I know what you mean about the amount you pay vs the amount that comes off the mortgage - it's particularly like that in the early years (I'm assuming you have a repayment product). A few years down the line however, the bites get significantly bigger
Another good thing is that you're money aware at a relatively young age. I was older than you when I got my first mortgage and whilst it was always part of my plan to chip away at it, another fews years before I sat down and actually worked out the cost of it. When I did, I nearly fell off my chair and began to crack down on it in earnest!!
So don't be too hard on yourself, you're doing great!

thanks guys!

Radish- sorry no news on the house yet, I guess it is getting a bit near xmas now for many people ... house prices and the prospect of selling does worry me at times for sure , Im just about out of negative equity (would prob get what I paid if I sold now) but it is hard I guess to figure the "right" time to sell. Hope you get some interest soon- maybe things will pick up in january! moving house/buying somewhere would be the kind of thing Id make as a new years resolution anyway!
I dont think it really dawned on me till this year how a mortgage actually worked... when I bought it was all about pushing for the highest possible mortgage I could get!! :rotfl: any OPs prior to this I saw as a bonus as they reduced my payments by quite a bit ...oh how times change :rotfl:
QB- thanks , yep am on a repayment mortgage I know it is good to realise and having OH on board and into the idea will put us in good stead for life in the future whatever happens to either respective individual or joint mortgages! I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist and also pretty bad at long term gain over instant gratification
.
have made the most of our cupboards this morning and baked a loaf of bread (handmade after being inspired by River Cottage on tv last night) and a cake (with slightly runny icing so wacked in the fridge!) now just to amuse myself this evening whilst OH is at work ... hmmm...trashy tv and cake? ... or to venture out...0 -
It's raining where I am - trashy tv and cake is sounding very attractive
Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Did you use one of his recipes? Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Great news you are back at work. Hope car isn't anything too serious/expensive!
I think the weather at the moment is the perfect excuse for food and tv!!Nov 2025 - part 1 - £13,878 part 2 - £20,953 Total - £34,832 24 months to go!0 -
mw
was raining here too! went for the cake and tv option in the end...although this morning realised I have put on almost half a stone so maybe the cake needs to be cut down a bit!
smlsave
no not a recipie from on there but from on the bread flour packet! but realised from watching RC that it wasnt actually very hard to make bread by hand- and it wasnt! very yummy tho!
Cath
thanks, hoping that the car isnt too expensive either! is great to be back earning !
have read thru some other diaires today and am thinking of figuring out some short term goals so I can keep myself motivated...hmmm...perhaps a list or 2 :rotfl:0 -
hmmm..
must look at demotivator again as realised the amount I go out and spend at lunchtime when wandering through town (usually on chocolate or a drink or something I "need" ) would add up to £500 + a year ...
i think a lot of my money frittering away is about "treating" myself , not with expensive things, but little things most days... must get out of this habit..any tips?
also I find that the more skint I am /feel ..the more I tend to blow the budget ... ironic perhaps but theres an element of "Ive got no money anyway, may as well buy this while I can" ...
think these will be the last couple of things to kick into shape before the big MF push starts 2011 .. ...
no other news than that, life seems to have got hectic now !! ... speaking of which must go or Ill probably be late!!
