  • Net Search Media are still at it!

Not one to be sold advertising over the phone by cold callers. My first words are generally How much is this going to cost me? before they've even said hello. Net Search contacted me pretending to be google and I was in a mellow mood, just back off holiday, staring at a pile of washing and wondering how to generate much needed work over the next few quiet months. Like a ray of sunshine breaking through the clouds someone is offering me resonibly priced advertising just when I need it. Like a fool I accept without doing any research.

Having worked in a call centre and in sales I know all the tricks. I battered the sales person with unreasonable demands and questions, I request several pre contract emails and letters, then a google the company for any forums such as this one. But no! I dreamily agree to the advertising, do not ask for full T&Cs and happily hand over all my debit card details! Possibly i was still intoxicated by the aroma of suntan lotion. Everybody is a nice person and wouldn't think of ripping me off. Not!

No advertising materialised, after several phonecalls and excuses later and the grounding effects of income tax, the warning bells are finally being heard. I've been suckered! Finally I google search Net Search Media and its worse then I imagine. They don't just rip you off once but keep coming back for more!! I've sent an email cancelling my contract and notifying netsearch media of my actions and about this forum and then contacted my banks to stop any further payments and try to claim back this one.

Thanks to everyone who takes time to write on these forums. It reminds cynics like me why I'm so cynical.

    I've yet to ha
  • Have not had chance to read all the comments on here but thought I would just add my experience with them.
Complete waste of time - do not touch with a barge pole!!
They tried to bill is for £1495 worth of marketing we didnt even request. Threatening court action. They said they had a call recording where we had agreed to the marketing yet they would not disclose it until we paid??? I explained to them if they are taking to me to court using the call they need to disclose it to me prior to the hearing. I stood my ground and they soon stopped pestering me. Stay well away

  • Quick update on my progress.

While waiting for the forms from the bank to arrive to claim back my payment made to Netsearch Media I received a call from them. A nice young man called Lee told me not to worry he was going to sort out my advertising. He told me not to worry again, he would sort. I said if it wasn't I wanted a full refund and to cancel my contract. He told me again not to worry and repeated this several times during the conversation. I was reminded of the film 'Knight and Day' where Tom Cruise tells Cameron Diaz 'if they repeat the words secure and safe it means they're going to kill you'. I wasn't worried at the start of the conversation but now I am!
I was given the excuses as mentioned in previous posts on this forum, 'the problems is with google, it's to do with your web address,' etc. He even offered to build me a new one that would work. I flatly refused. He send he would get it sorted and call me back. I contacted google, they were very helpful, although they couldn't discuss specific accounts without the account details they did tell me that there would be no problem advertising my site with google and also I had every right to ask Netsearch for my login in details to the advertising account. I cntacted netsearch by email with this information asking for my login details.
I was instantly contact and within 12 hours my advertising appeared.

I'm not sure if Netsearch Media and Worldwide Marketing are the same company but they are very similar. Possibly they are con artists or maybe they just have bad training, bad customer service and bad after sales service. Either way best to avoid because the amount of time I have spent sorting it out I could have built two more websites and sorted out six months advertising for all of them!

    Hi,
Very ashamed to say that I too have been taken in by these people, and would be happy to club together and back anyone up with evidence.
They plagued me with nuisance phone calls, and when I sent a letter this stopped, so I believe they get letters. Also, after counter threats from me they have put my ads. at the top of google page 1 as originally promised.
Paid with debit card and the bank says charge back can apply where you have not received any terms and conditions. I don't think there are any are there??

    Hi,

Sorry to hear that they're still up to their old tricks. Re. T&Cs, when I was scammed by them they didn't send the terms and conditions, but sent a link to them on their website. So I suggest you check the original correspondence you received from them.

    Good luck,

    Simon

That's what happened with me, they said they'd send the terms and conditions - which they didn't, but I found them by following an obscure link from the email to their website.

I'm still waiting to hear back from my bank and trading standards,.

You raise an important point. To anyone scammed by this company, PLEASE report it to Trading Standards as this is going to be the only way to get this company either closed down or trading fairly.

The report needs to go to your local Trading Standards office, who then pass it on to the office where the company operates, in this case Oldham Trading Standards. It is very difficult to liaise directly with Oldham as they have very limited resources, but if you phone them ask to speak to the Duty Officer as they should be available to discuss issues over the phone.

In my case Oldham Trading Standards raised my complaint directly with WMS, who then promised to refund me in full. But typically the refund never arrived for several weeks, so I then had to tell them that unless I received it by a particular date and time I would lodge papers at my local court under the small claims procedure (now called something else). This worked!

But be warned that at least one other complainant did actually take them to court and won, but WMS still didn't pay up after several months, despite the court ruling. I lost touch with this person, so don't know what happened in the end I'm afraid.

    Good luck.
  • Worldwide marketing and Net search media are owned by the same person Danny Kay.
I was scammed by them but got my money back.
Because they sell the product on the telephone, their online terms and conditions do not apply.
Because when you agree to the deal by telephone you are not able to see their terms and conditions.
About the telephone conversation with your order, it is clear that the same telephone call will prove they missold the package, they said you were getting, it will also have a recording of the salesperson lying claiming they are google. When i asked for a copy of my telephone conversation they then decided the game was up and did not dispute my case anymore and i got my money back.
I actually claimed my money back from the bank, i paid my fee by credit card, and i held the bank liable for the money, they tried to worm their way out of it, just stand your ground.
For those who have gone to court and won, find out there bank details and get the court to collect it from their bank.
    Hope this helps
  • I recently received my credit card statement..it showed the £150 to WWM but also said it did not have to be paid as it was in dispute.

Just phoned my bank to double check what was happening and they confirmed that WWM had repaid the money.:j:j:j

I'm still going to chase Trading Standards cos something needs to be done about these people. But if you are scammed don't be bullied into letting it go.
