I had a phonecall with them a few days ago.

Seemed convincing, but I said give me your companies details so i can look up what people have to say about you, and look for any reviews of your company.
He got defensive saying if I find bad reviews it is of people who have now left the company or other rival companies slating them.

And after I insisted that I need a few days to look up details on the company, he said he can't hold a place for me overnight and that if I wanted their services it had to be today.

So i panicked and bought out the whole package, SEO, facebook, graphic design, first page google advertising just so i can secure their services! And now I am a millionaire!

Last bit was a joke. I don't like being pressured regardless of how good a company may be so i turned it down. Thanks for the warning guys.
  • These idiots did this to me, I did this by credit card and put in a fraud claim and had my money paid back. I would say to anybody that had more than £750 taken from them, then issue a statutory demand for winding up against them. This will allow you to liquadate their company. go to bankruptcy - insolvency . co. uk this will sort them out. There is also the county court once you are convinced you have had money taken without your permission then do not mess about go onto money claim on line and get them in court, if you are an indiviual the case will be in your local court so they will have to travel.

When you say you "put in a fraud claim and had your money paid back", could you say who you claimed from, and how you did this? It would help everyone who is in the same position!
  • Looks like I have been their latest victim. Have phoned them to try and cancel but alas no. Checked my bank account - payment already taken. Can't believe I have been so stupid. Really mad at myself for being taken in!

I got a phone call from Halifax Bank today, following up my fifth(!) letter to them about the WMS fraud.

The bank was very careful not to accept responsibility for the misrepresentation, or even to concede that misrepresentation had taken place, but offered to refund me the full amount "as a goodwill gesture", along with £30 as "compensation for all the trouble I had to go through)". So fair play to Halifax in the end - they get a positive review from me!

I'd have preferred a S75 refund, so that there is a better record of WMS's unethical practices, or even better, a chargeback,so that WMS bear the loss, but a refund is a refund, so I am happy it's over (assuming WMS doesn't try any more tricks).

As the rep from Halifax said, the problem was that it was the merchant's word against mine regarding the oral conversation. *My* point was that in such cases, the onus should be on the merchant to show that the call fairly represented what was ultimately provided (i.e. that it matched the written follow up, and that this was what the customer understood and agreed to). If the merchant plans to rely on the later imposed written Ts and Cs without signature, he had better be pretty confident they contain no nasty surprises.

(Also, when it's six of one and half a dozen of the other, I expect the Bank to support my side, as I am their customer!)
  • I too have been scammed by Netsearch Media.

I admit it is my own stupidity to blame.

They took an additional payment without my consent of 58 pounds. after the initial 120 pounds for the months' campagn.

I complained about the additional payment that was taken, they said that the conversation was recorded & I clearly agreed & that they would send a CD copy. The CD never arrived.

I telephoned & they hosted a copy in which I had not agreed & promptly wrote a letter claiming my money back. They did refund this 58 pounds - but the 120 pounds was completely wasted as I didn't get any extra hits/customers.

Totaly xxxx ers. I would advise everybody to avoid Netsearch Media at all costs (& there will be plenty believe me)....

If something sounds too good to be true then it often is. Lots of companies promise front page of Google and claim to be Google..you can get yourself on the front page of Google without spending any money at all.

Why not have a policy within your business not to buy anything over the phone, that way you are not going to be scammed.

Good advice. That will be me from now on. Never again.
  • Been onto my local trading standards and have contected my bank. they have cancelled the card that I paid on so that no more money can be taken without authorisation (I hope).. I also cancelled with WWMS by phone, email and a letter sent recorded delivery. I hope thta this will be the end of it.
  • I too have been scammed by these scumbags. They claimed to get me on the front page. I parted with over a hundred quid. They claimed it was a month to month basis and they would not continue beyond that month without verbal permission. Did they hell!
Within the first month i emailed them and explained how disatisfied I was and didnt want to carry on. I emailed and called many times. They never ever replied to any calls or emails. After a month, I got a call from Santander Fraud department stating they had intercepted an attempted payment. Thank God! I cancelled the card and heard nothing for 4 months until.....Yesterday, a letter from a Debt collection agencey threatening legal action wanting £595.
I Called WWMS and they said they I hadnt sent them any emails and that they had sent me loads! Total lies! Whilst on the phone they said "oh, ive just found your emails in our junk folder". Nowhere does it say "I WANT TO CANCEL".
I requested a copy of the initial call tapes and they wont provide it. They said "forget the £595, ive got a bill from Google for £150, pay this and we will call it quits" I asked where they got £595 from and they indicated that was "just a figure". Im now collecting evidence to go to court and refusing to pay them.
