  • Thanks to your site I have been saved from being scammed by Worldwide Marketing. I was contacted this morning by them offering the £99 trial month. Fortunately I stalled them and they rang me back three hours later, in which time I read your reports. When they rang back they denied being a scam company and assured me they had only forty two complaints online out of eight thousand clients. After fifteen minutes trying to convince me they were politely told "not for me thanks". Once again thanks for the information on your site.

Just to let you know that I know of someone who has just started her own small business and was called by a member of the Worldwide Marketing Solutions sales team. Apparently they claim to BE Google, and thereafter employ aggressive sales technique to quickly part you from £120 for a Google advert which, at the time of writing, hasn't yet materialised. She did try to cancel the advert about an hour after the initial sales call, suspecting that she had been conned, but they point blank refused saying she had no rights. I would recommend avoiding them like the plague. Their website is at worldwidems.co.uk.

    AGREED that's right
  • I've just got a letter from my credit card company saying they've retaken the money they refunded me and given it back to wms. They included several letters from wms, one saying I need to pay another 2 months payments or they'll start legal procedings, although they haven't sent that letter to me themselves.
They said they have delivered what they promised, to get my website on the 1st page of google for a month, and include a position report, titled Google AdWords, which doesn't make any sense to me. Its a list of 4 keywords with an average position, for eg, one is 'pass plus lessons hampshire, 4.5', but I dont mention pass plus on my website! Can anyone explain to me what its supposed to mean? I want to get back to my cc company but stuck as to what to say.
Have they started legal proceedings against anyone, is there a chance I could face a huge court bill if they did?
I'm a bit stuck as to what my next move should be.

I was contacted at the end of July 2011 by World Wide Marketing, explaining that they handle advertisement on behalf of Google. In fact I was lead to believe that they form part of or are owned by Google, that they are a Google company.

I was offered a 1 x month trial at 99 GBP plus vat and a 20 GBP activation fee to be listed on Google’s 1st page for 30 days for the month of August 2011 when clients key in the 6 x keywords that I supplied them with.

I accepted and asked them to start advertising on the 1st of August 2011 for 30 days only. If I was then happy with the results and the feedback/leads generated from the listing, I could then extend it for a further 3 x months, alternatively they would provide me with 6 x weeks listings at a further 99 GBP.

On or about the 3rd of August I was contacted again by them and offered an “upsell” service in which they would at a nominal additional fee add me to all the other search engines. Whilst I was talking to the chap trying to upsell me, I Google’d the 6 x key words which I gave them and could not find my listing at all on Google (remember I agreed to the offer of a 1st page listing and in return i will pay the agreed fee for the service which was supposed to have started 01 August 2011 and last for 30 days).

He then put me on hold, came back with a long story and told me there was a technical problem and that it was now rectified and it will show the next day. Since he was very convincing I took the “upsell” product and since then have not seen my listing, not even once?

    Today I realised that they have debited me again (without permission) and that they now regard the agreement as month to month? They have now debited us;
    25/07/2011 = 142-80 GBP
    25/07/2011 = 58-80 GBP
    05/09/2011 = 118-80 GBP.

When I checked again today, not once could I using the search key words find my listing, not even on page 2 or 3?

When I called them they told me that they explain to me over the phone that it was a month to month agreement (indefinite agreement) and that I should have cancelled it.

I asked for a copy of the voice transcript. They don’t want to give it to me and asked me to phone back later. During this “arm wrestle” for the copy of the agreement (the voice recording) with a very rude Simon, I was informed that they sent me the agreement (terms and conditions) to my e-mail on 2 x occasions and that I should have read the terms and conditions and that it is their protection and defence on the matter.

When I could not find the e-mail, I asked them for the e-mail address used and realised that they had the wrong e-mail. As a result, I could not get the terms and conditions and could therefore not familiarise myself with the content and informed them of this. The same chap, Simon (he told me he is the manager) then got very rude and basically said that even if I did not get the terms and conditions; they still regard the agreement as legal and binding?

I then by chance found on the internet many people who have been scammed by them (8 x pages of complaints, all the same) going back as far as 2005 on this forum.

So far, nobody seems to have been able to deal with them (i.e. the Police Fraud unit, The Trading Standards, Consumer Direct etc).

Be very carefull. They also claim now to do Facebook listings.
  • I, somewhat foolishly now I feel, have been taken in by this company as well. I have paid for my first month but after reading this forum (and several others) I will be trying to cancel immediately.

I know a lot of people have said their accounts have been automatically renewed and things have gone quite far.

Has anyone actually successfully cancelled their agreement within the first month? Just got in touch, cancelled, and nothing else has happened?

    I need some hope...

I plan to send this email - any advice welcome...

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to cancel my agreement/account with immediate effect.

I received a welcome letter and invoice from your company Worldwide Marketing Solutions on ***** 2011 stating my trial month had started. Referring to your online marketing agreement the agreement/account can be cancelled by post or by email with immediate effect within the first month. It is now ***** 2011, well within the first month.

Please confirm my account has been cancelled in full and no further payment will be taken, the agreement will not automatically renew, I am not pausing my account, I am cancelling it completely.

    Regards,

I have now called 101 and have registered a fraud case against them. Next is the Trading Standards, Consumer Direct, Fake Britton, Rougue Traders, etc
