hi ya all my daughter has just handed me a letter from school and im so shocked that her school is letting them out of her school at 2:20pm instead of 3:20pm because of the england match on the 23rd june !!!! im so shocked but my hubby doesnt think theres anything wrong as its only a one off thing and it is the world cup , i agree the world cup is massive and everyone should be alowed to support it but letting them out 1 hour early isnt really showing them the right thing is it , havent people been complaining at how many people is taking sick days for it ,
dont get me wrong im not anti fotball and have watched most games with my husband i dont mind it but letting them out school ??????
i cant see y they cant put the match on the school radio or even a tv so they could hear it , am i on my own here thinking this is wrong of the school ?!

Must admit it wouldn't bother me but I dont expect England to get very far based on last nights performance - sorry! Bet the kids are pleased as its an early weekend.
Can see how it would affect working mums, though.
Edit: oops, see its the wednesday game, not friday. Same difference, kids'll love it.Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

and do schools think that employers are all letting staff out early?
schools do have discretionary holidays - but they shouldnt inconvence parents. should they?
this football world cup is gettin out of hand! its a bloody game for gawds sake! war didnt do anything but make everyone determined to stick to routine. a footy game and schools suddenly get a little holiday? headmaster must be a footy freak!0 -
I think it is disgusting a game should be put before the childres education.. I will be kicking up a God Almighty stink if our school even consider it..
Just a thought though.. is the Head male perchance? Or bowing to pressure from male staff.. ? .. not to stereotype but most people watching will be male.
I wouldn't pick mine up, I'd write back refusing with a huge of reasons why!
It isn't an early weekend.. it is a Wednesday!!! It is an early skive off work!! Be great of health workers did that!! can you imagine the result?

I think that it's absolutely ridiculous. What is it teaching them for the future? Also what about parents who will have to make arrangements to pick up their children? At the end of the day it's just a game of football.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I wasn't impressed to hear on the radio last week the presenters joking about kids leaving exams early to leg it home to watch the world cup. Years of preparation to sit your A levels and they you blow it by going home early to see England loose. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

oh dont get me wrong as i said im not anti football and im engoying the games and im behind the lads as much as anyone else but think the school should be thinking of another way to let the kids watch / listen to the match other than let them out to watch it !wins :- x2 hair dyes ,mascara, epilator, personalised card , glass photo ,comp angels please throw some luck my way:j:D:A:)

It's a bit short notice for people to change their pick up arrangements, it's a football game and it's not so important that everyone must stop their life and watch every game, how many employers will let their staff leave early just because school are closing early???0

its only once every few years and what is your daughter going to miss in an hour? if yo are that bothered, why not ask the school to provide some homework for her to do?0
