Forgive me have not read all the posts on this topic. DD2 aged 14 brought home a letter about this last week and anyone who wanted thier child to stay in school that facility was there for them. Today got a text message from DDs2+3 school saying the school was closing at 2.45, no facility for any child to stay after this time. I have phoned my boss to see if I could leave early and was told no, so DH is now trying to re-arrange his scedule for tomorrow. I appreciate a lot of people want to watch the match but a little more notice would have been better!! Rant over!!0

Sorry haven't read all replies as I am no footie fan, and if I never see John Terry's sly face ever again, it will be too soon.
I was though listening to radio this a.m, and thought a school was handling it really well. From memory, littlies finish at 15:10. older at 15:30. Head has said pick up can be usual, half time or full time. Meanwhile the two age groups watch separately at school but with their friends.
Mum was thrilled with this, as her six year old gets to watch with his friends, she doesn't need to ask employer to leave early either. Why couldn't all schools do the same?
In fact, a far better result than England I fear.0 -
About time schools took some initiative to instil discipline into the pupils.
Having to watch England today will hopefully make them think twice about misbehaving again! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Was cross today.
Went to collect DS (5) from primary school at 3.15 normal time.
Playground dead, roads dead.
Door to his classroom already open - I put my head in and they called his name. Over he came. He was one of 4 kids left out of 60.
It seems they put a sign up on his classroom door this morning saying that children could be collected from 2.45pm today due to football. Teacher heard me apologising to son for making him wait and she informed me they only knew about it at 8.50 this morning, so had no time to get the message out to parents bar a sign on the door.
DS likes being independent, so I wait by the gate in the morning and watch him walk the final 5 seconds into the classroom alone. Didn't see any signs. Collected DD from nursery at 11.30am. No signs there either.
The match has been scheduled for how long????!!!! Why such late notice?Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
