Hi everyone, hope you are having a good weekend.
We've had a pretty quiet one, I've been painting the kitchen today. It's awful - artex on the walls and the ceiling, so it looks really grubby. I've slapped a coat of white paint over it to try and freshen it up again. It looks better but needs another coat. I can't wait until the day comes when we can just rip out the whole thing and get a new one. It is so badly designed too.
Yesterday I spent going through some magazines and put a load out for recycling. I've finished a couple of books so have a few to list on amazon. I need to get on with that as my ebay sales are not looking good at the moment - selling one item today and one on Tuesday at the mo. I need to get on with that if I'm going to make my target.
I got £5 yesterday from a survey company so shall add that to my total.
I've been reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. A lot of people on here swear by it. It's basically about positive thinking and the laws of attraction - you 'ask the universe' for things. I was a bit cynical but it's actually an interesting read and the underlying principles make sense.
I've asked the universe for £10 million and to be a size 14. Just waiting for them to turn up now. :rotfl:
Joking aside, I think there are some principles in the book that I will take forward and try and incorporate them into my life."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

We have a horrible kitchen as well. It's big enough, but I'd like to extend it further out the back and add a nice sun-room to it. Just as you've done, I've been thinking of painting it to brighten it up - it is really not nice.Yesterday I spent going through some magazines and put a load out for recycling. The book is one of many similar books out there on the Law of Attraction - the basic idea is to think about and ask for what you would like and the universe will send it to you. I don't think it's enough to just think about it though - you have to take action. But there are essential principles that are useful to follow, as there are with a lot of these self-development books. You just have to sort out the wheat from the chaff.0 -
Hi all. Just found and read your diary. Wow, how motivating!!! on reading your thread i have just relisted some items on ebay and have done a few new listings. I have loads of treasures (ok clutter) to get rid of!!!.
I love books too. i collect more than read. I have loads of books on crafts, hobbies, antiques and collectables and I tend to read biographies and autobiographies-though i read alot of fiction when at uni s few years ago!!! (not forgetting the loads of books i have on cookery - i had over 50 at one point and have to seriously declutter in every aspect). I'm like a magpie and collect all sorts of stuff.
Anyway enough rambling from me-have added your thread to favourites and maybe we can motivate each other too.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Having a horrible kitchen is a real pain I find, I've lost all motivation to cook and spend time in there. Not good when I need to be healthy eating!
I don't really tend to go for these sorts of books, but I saw this one cheap at a boot sale so thought I'd pick it up and see what all the fuss was about. It's not too bad. I finished it yesterday, stuck it on amazon and have sold it today for a £5 profit, woo hoo! :rotfl::j:THi all. Just found and read your diary. Hi tattycath, thanks for popping in, it's lovely for you to say my diary is motivating, as I get so much motivation and inspiration from other people, but wouldn't have thought I was!
It would be great if you would hang around and we can definitely motivate each other.
I do have a collection of books that will never leave this house - ones I really enjoy or have sentimental value to me - these are my degree course books, others I have collected on geology, certain fiction authors and just those books I can read over and over again. I am however trying to be ruthless with those I read and know will never want to read again. I need the space!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Well I sold a whole 2 items on ebay yesterday (calm down people, there's no need to get so excited
) so that nets me a hefty £5.98 to my total.
I have also sold two on amazon so another £7.71 from there. :T
I shall add these to my total. I have one item selling on ebay going out tomorrow and am hoping to get a couple more sold then too.
I haven't checked my lottery tickets yet so there's still hope"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
:xmastree:I forgot to add - my lovely DH has ordered me a Kindle for Christmas:happyhear:smileyhea:blushing:"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Interested to know how long books take to sell on Amazon? Are they modern books or old and out of print?0
