I hope things get better for you, and I'm sure you'll find lots of ways to keep money saving - just look at your ebaying totals!
Thanks Karma, it's really depressing, but I am in a better position than many, so will think on the bright side.peaceandfreedom wrote: »Gosh, it's all grim grim grim isn't? But you've got a year's stay of execution and who knows what might happen by then. Meanwhile, you are whittling away at the debts and you'll be in a much better position by then - we all will (get me and my new-found optimism).
It's fine to feel down now and then you know, you can't be cheerful all the time. The colder weather and dark evenings don't help either - I always think the day the clocks go back is the most depressing day of the year.
I'm not really a winter person - I like to hibernate if possible. I love Christmas but once that's over I want it to be the end of March. This winter I'm going to try to enjoy the season more - get out there on my bike, go for long walks, enjoy the lovely countryside, stop being a misery-guts. Will it work - don't know, but it's worth a try.
I'm self-employed so no-one can make me redundant but equally my income is very erratic and totally down to me. I like it though. I had a 'proper' job for a while, and how I hated it. Having to ask someone if I can have a day off, and having a boss (or several of them) just doesn't suit me. That's the 'freedom' part of my name. The 'peace' is what I'll have when I've paid off my debts.
I'm feeling a bit more positive today, am going to do my best to bash this debt down. I'm not keen on winter either, (except for Christmas!) so maybe I should try and get out more too.
I admire you for being self employed, I like the idea, but am not sure I am motivated enough (though I guess it's different when you know if you don't work you don't get any money at all). If I didn't have this debt, I think I would be more willing to take the challenge. Who knows what the future holds?
Anyway, it's a lotto rollover tonight so going to get a ticket.
Have a good day everyone!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Thanks for the reminder about the lottery, I'd forgotten. Better go and get a ticket now.
Hope you are well x"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Right, lotto ticket purchased, so fingers crossed!
I've got a few bits to add to my money making, so pleased with that. Another £11 of ebay sales, and £20 cashed out from surveys. Excellent!
Got £7 worth of bids on ebay at the moment as well, so it's creeping in.
DH has just sold a car on ebay so he will be pleased when he's finally got the cash in his hand!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
And it's Friday
DH has booked the van in for tuning and a new distributer tomorrow, so not looking forward to that. I can't afford to pay right now, so he will have to cover it for now. I'm a bit miffed because he booked it without consulting with me - I would have parked it up for the winter and done it early next spring. I'm fed up with spending out on it, and really can't afford it.
My car's MOT and insurance is due at the beginning of December, and I'm trying to sort out Christmas too, so I don't need to be spending anything else!
Free listing on ebay this weekend, yay! You can't use turbolister which is really annoying, so means I probably won't get anything new listed, but at least it means I don't get charged for relisting. :T
I've got 9 things selling at the moment so pleased with that.
I've had an email from someone who has not received something I posted last Monday , so I've told them if it doesn't arrive today I will refund them. I have proof of posting from the post office, so at least I can claim back from them. It's darned annoying though!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Yes, that is annoying, I presume they are telling the truth? And I also presume you didn't win the Lotto on Wednesday?
My buyer of my expensive ebay item has paid and the item has now winged its way to Lithuania - it's quite exciting tracking things online. Phoned DHL direct for quote for shipping - £94.12 . Went on to parcel2go - £34.49 - much more like it. I underquoted the buyer a bit because I didn't look into it properly - bit of an ebay novice I'm afraid. Hope he likes it when it arrives.
Have another buyer who has not paid yet for the item sold on Sunday - it's only a piffling amount but it's a bit annoying. Will send another reminder on Sunday if no movement by then.
Feeling a bit rough today. About to have a coffee then a bath, then off into Weston for a bit of shopping. I'm buying a halogen heater so I can heat up the room I work in without having the whole central heating on. I'm going to buy two things in Boots in two separate transactions so I can get their £5 No.7 voucher and buy a couple of stocking-fillers for the girls for Christmas.
This year I am determined to get Christmas done without using credit or increasing debt - shows how terrible I have been with money that this hasn't happened for many years (hangs head in shame). The good thing is that none of the kids need any big-ticket items and my son (15) has already said several times that he doesn't need anything much this Christmas - just the latest COD game. Bless him.0 -
No I didn't win the lottery on Wednesday, boo! Though it's a double rollover this weekend, so there's still hope! I know it's a waste of money, but I don't care, I can't win if I don't play!
I had to start a non paying bidder for something today. The annoying thing is they left feedback this week for something they won last week, so I know they've been on. It's so annoying.
I hope your Lithuanian buyer likes their item. I'm always so nervous when something goes for a lot of money, I hate waiting for them to leave feedback or let me know they are happy.
I hope you enjoy your day in Weston, the pier opens again soon, doesn't it. I expect we'll mosey up to have a look when it does. I hope you feel better soon.
Well done with the Christmas shopping, and not paying for it on credit. That was my aim too, and I have done quite a bit, but a few things are going to go on credit, as I just want to get it done now and over with. Hopefully that means I will pay them off before Christmas but I guess it all depends on the MOT and insurance. I was in an accident last year just after I renewed, so it's going to go up this year (even if I switch) but hopefully not by too much. And I won't be staying with my current insurer after the farce I had trying to get my car back!
I have no idea whether my ebay buyer is telling the truth, as I didn't send it tracked. I have proof of posting though so can try and claim from RM. It's only £3 so not the end of the world. I'll probably put something in the feedback like 'sorry it got lost in the post' in case they try it on a lot. It doesn't look like they do though, they've got plenty of feedback."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hmm, I've just had a look and I can see that my non-paying buyer has also been on. They have until the end of today and then I will start NPB process against them. I have emailed them twice and I can see they have left feedback during the week for other sellers. It's annoying.I hope your Lithuanian buyer likes their item. I'm always so nervous when something goes for a lot of money, I hate waiting for them to leave feedback or let me know they are happy.
I'm nervous about it too.I can see that an attempt was made to deliver the item yesterday but the recipient wasn't at home. So will have to wait until Monday now I guess.

It opens today - they got rubbish weather for it it, it was lashing rain all morning. Has stopped now and the sun has come out so I will go outside and sow some green manure in one of the raised bed - I plan to plant veggies there in the spring.
Feeling better today, thanks.0 -
Well done for sales on ebay everyone. Im having a clear out so will possibly find something!
That's funny peaceandfreedom about you not wanting Xmas on credit this year. That's just what I posted in my diary. It could be the first year in a long time that it has not been on credit.Egg April 10 £6600 Jan £4678 now £0
Santander Jan £3414 April £3338
Virgin April£2643 Aug £3155 April £7109
Barclaycard Oct £1476 April £1287
So far paid off 17% of c.c. debt:T0 -
Howdy everyone! Hope you are having a good weekend!
I've sold a few more items on ebay and some more going out this evening, so that's good. My non payer paid up after I started the NPB process, so their parcel will be posted tomorrow.
I'm determined to have a break from the computer today, so shall update properly tomorrow I think
Hope you are all ok!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
