Hi guys hope you are all having a good easter so far!
I've been using my pudding rice as baking beans for the last 6 months do you think it will still work in a sc rice pudding or have i baked the life out of it?? -Sorry if a stupid question but cooking from scratch is only just becoming my friend!
Thanks in advance for any advice.x0 -
i would say give it a go MRSJef , i cook rice pudding in slow cooker all the time its delicious0
-
Thanks, can i ask what quantities you use as my previous attempts have had 1 x really nice, 1 x too thick and used about 8 pints of milk!!!
Thanks0 -
I usually use 1 1/2 ounces of rice per pint of milk0

Hi,
Can't answer whether the rice will be ok but for 2 people I use 2oz rice, 1 pint milk, knob of butter and 1/2 tsp nutmeg and it is delicious, you can always add a bit more milk later if it's too thick.0 -
MrsJef:hello:
I don't honestly think it will work having been baked over and over again in the oven. You could always give it a go though. I think it may be a waste of ingredients although I am more than happy to be proven wrong!

Do let us know how it goes
I'll add this to the rice pudding in SC thread later:)

I'm with Zippy on this one, I'd think they'd be beyond redemption - but instead of wasting the milk and sugar you could try pouring boiling water over a spoonful of the rice, cover and wait for 15-20 mins. If the rice has started to soften (won't be done, but should be on its way) then I'd give it a go with the proper ingredients. At least this way your only wasting the boiling of the kettle if you're not having a cuppa.
It's only a game
