I have a special High Protien milk called Ensure that I have to take everyday, and I found that although it's ok on cereals or porridge. I tried making a rice pud with it and it wasn't very nice it seemd to go very 'gluey' Which was a shame as I get it on prescription, and have to take it three times a day as a supplement .Not too bad in hot chocolate or coffee but in tea it tastes awful as well. It looks a bit like the old-fashioned 'sterilised ' milk a sort of dark beige colour .Anyone else on here take it at all I am looking for recipes I can use it in to give me a bit of a change from just breakfast cereals
I too love rice pud, and used to make it with evaporated milk. A big tin of Carnation or supermarkets own brand, add water to make it up to three quarters of a pint then topped up with whole or semi-skimmed milk makes a lovely creamy pud.some sultanas thrown in for good measure and some grated nutmeg or cinnamon sprinkled on the top, mmm I could eat some right now0 -
I make a rice pudding a week in my SC a huge one as I always have to take a portion round to my dads. I often freeze some also into little portions for my DD and it tastes just the same and doesn't seperate at all. I just leave it out overnight and then add a little more milk to it when I warm it up.0

Hi, I have just cooked a rice pudding in my mini Slow Cooker (which I got free from a catalog last year).
2 x oz pudding rice
1 x pint milk
2 x oz sugar
vanilla essence
dots of butter
Threw it all in, stirred it up, put the lid on and set cooker on high. Turned to low after bout 1 and half hours.

I've been doing rice pud in the slo cooker using asda smartprice long grain rice, and by cooking it for longer found it's as good as with pudding rice, but loads cheaper.
