Ebayer won't allow collection

  • I take it you have the eBay emails saved in My eBay?

If it was agreed before the auction, then no, they can't change their minds, as it forms part of the agreement/contract. If it was after the auction, then they can do practically as they wish since the original terms of the auction stand. Unless of course it said in the auction itself that local pickup was ok.

They can't change their mind as of 'This Monday' if they have prior transactions outstanding already accepting it.
  • Thanks for the information.

I had no emails prior or after the auction finish. Although the item does say that they allow collection and that the fee is £5. So what should be my next course of action? I have only used ebay a handful of times and have no idea what to do if things don't run smoothly.

    Thanks Again

  • Then you're perfectly entitled to pick it up.
For local collections, there will be an admin charge of £5
It's there as plain as day.

They can't change their terms afterwards. It's the same as me winning an auction, then paying for the item+postage through PayPal. And then the sellers comes back to me asking me to cough up another £15.

It's advertised as £5 pickup. If they've recently changed their policy then they shouldn't have written it in the auction. Why should you have to pay an extra £15 for their lack of planning.

I'm not sure how to handle this though. If it was me, I would politely point out the above. Actually.. I would have paid for it through PayPal too.

This is exactly the same (almost) as someone selling a car and offering local pickup for £5, or low loader delivery for £500. And then telling you that you have to have the low loader.

I'd just turn up there and collect it. Then I'd launch a Non Performing Seller (NPS) dispute through eBay.

But, after exhausting all other possibilities. They can't insist you abide to their 'new' terms.

Just checking to see if they're still listing 'local pickup for £5'.

They are!! Their auctions still list local pickup for £5.

This auction was listed TODAY. £5 for local pickup it says.
  • Absolutely, they have to abide by the £5 pick up.
Also, you can report all his other auctions for still offering the £5 pick up.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

    Thanks Aly,

I have cancelled the unpaid item dispute they sent and sent a direct email stating that I stil expect the guitar for said price + admin fee and would not be happy with paying the extra £15. I also included that unless they are willing to abide I will have no other option than to carry out a NPS.

I also mentioned that they would be wise to change all over listing, thanks smartie.

Thanks for all your advise, fingers crossed they will get back to my email soon.

  • I once had someone drive down the M1 and do a delivery in London Gateway services

I have ahad a couple of people at the door but it is a hassle that I could do without, but I would never allow it unless agreed in advance
  • Please let us know the outcome Danish? :)
