Ebayer won't allow collection

I haven't read the whole thread (being sneaky and reading whilst at work!) so apologies if this has already been said, but can't you report the seller for excessive postage prices?
I was 'speaking' to a person who had bought an item off of me and she was saying how she had purchased 6 silk scaves the previous week and the seller wanted to charge her £9 P&P. My buyer sent the seller a message saying that the postage was too high for the item and that she would report them to Ebay if they didn't revise it. Sure enough the seller lowered her P&P.
I agree that the postage that you have been quoted is very high for 3 baby t-shirts. I, however, do not understand why people bid on an item if they do not know what the postage cost is, or if they cannot pay by the stated methods. I sell a few bits now and again, and a couple of times I have had people wanting to pay me via a direct bank transfer and they get a bit funny when I say that I won't accept it. Payment terms are clearly listed on the auctions, if you can't pay via that way then please do not bid.
Also. (I'm on a waffling streak, I might as well carry on!) I prefer to post items rather than have somebody to collect. I have 2 large dogs, who are not keen on people coming to the door. For me it is a lot less hassle to go to the post office than have somebody knocking on my door. I'm not keen on strangers turning up on my door step at the best of times.
I hope the issue gets resolved easily for you and without the high postage costs

Just out of curiosity, is a bank transfer instant? I've never used it before but it does seem to be a good option to add to my listings. How does it work?-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

No it usually takes 3 or 4 days, but it depends on the bank involved. This however is changing (next year maybe, can't remember exactly) and transfer will be the same day or 1 working day I believe.
Basically you give your account number, bank name and sort code to the buyer and they transfer the money into your account.0 -
no - and because i've chosen not too. a boot sale or ebay allows me to not let strangers come to my house. it's my choice thanks, and i'll stick to it!Coupon-mad wrote:I can't believe way some of you worry, and the person is only coming to your front door! Have none of you ever sold stuff through free ads?
i think the OP has to just use this as a learning curve for ebay - you agree to bid without all the information and more often than not you end up losing money.... it's annoying and frustrating, but at least you'll never do it again.:happyhear0 -

Sure
And you can have them when they are asking strange questions about said transfer and various other weird things that made me think that I really don't want to give these people more of my details than necessary.
Ebay is certainly an experience at times isn't it!

No collections are also my policy now on ebay... just had some idiot waste 10 days of my time on one of my items when i said he could collect to save the 20 quid postage..

No favours in the future for others due to idiots like the buyer I had..

Sounds like this guy is making a huge profit on p&p, it doesn't cost that much to send three small items of baby clothes!
I definitely wouldn't pay. Take the hit & if he leaves you a neg then I would leave one back for excessive p&p charge.
I am a single young female and have no problem allowing collection of items I sell. I also buy a lot of items from local areas to save on p&p! I think if you allow collection then your item might get more bids from local people who are willing to pay a little more for the item since they won't be paying p&p.0
