I also can't believe that you're asking me to justify how I would pay it when they have actually taken my money illegally. Surely how I pay it is my problem, and nothing to do with the fact that they have taken the money 24 hours before it should have been taken.
Presumably they won't pay the companies until monday, so therefore they have made 24 hours interest on all the money they have taken a day early from all their customers who won't even know because they have put on the statements that it has been taken on the correct day.
They have not taken your money illegally! Don't be so silly. Your money will be debited with the effective date of the 28th. As the poster above has mentioned, it may "look" like it has been taken today, but it will come out as of tomorrrows date. Halifax has not gained any extra interest. It is just a quirk in the system.0

so the telephone banking operator was wrong this morning when he said the funds had already been taken out of my account, then, and the available balance he gave me was also wrong, and if I try to transfer this £800 right now to my halifax savings account it will let me?0

It hasn't been taken! The date they cite is the 28th, it is not the 28th! The balance might have been adjusted, but the money is still yours, legally, until the 28th.
This is so, so common, and often happens if a payment date falls on a weekend, or a BH monday.
Edit: it is also the reason why most people set up direct debts to be paid on say, the 1st tuesday of the month, rather than specifying a date.April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

My balance available should be over £800 until tomorrow and it isn't. I have phoned customer services, who have confirmed that the funds aren't available today.
 This is why I'm angry.
If it had been a direct debit and it was taken a day early it would come under the dd guarantee.
The money has not been taken as yet. It may have been reserved, but it has not been taken. There is a difference. The money will show tomorrow being taken as at the 28th.0

Please believe me, it HAS been taken.
If it hadn't my balance would be over £800.
I have just attempted to transfer £150 into my other halifax acct and it said insufficient funds, only £14 available.
I have also checked with tele banking as my previous post.
What else can I do to make you believe me?
Of course it will show as been taken tomorrow as the transactions are already dated 28th. That is my point.0

Same thing happens with my Lloyds account, I've got a transaction showing up with the date of 29th August & it's reduced my balance. I see it as a good thing, it stops me from taking/spending the money & not having enough available on Tuesday, facing charges etc...0

I certainly believe you and sympathise with you. It always annoys me on here when people refuse to believe what someone says.
A previous poster said that you could set up DDs for the first Tuesday of a month for example. I did not realise you could do this, I thought it had to be a set date.0

Believe him,it is so frustrating when some-one with an opinion maintains their stance ,and refuses to listen,in this case it is another poster ,but when it is an institution very difficultM_Thomson wrote:The money has not been taken as yet.
