Oh, My Lord. I have just completed this thread. At what point did everyone - specifically kenshaz - start taking LSD or some other hallucinogenic drug?!?!?!?

About 8 or 9 pages back when Kenshaz knew he was loosing the argument! He has to divert attention away from it some how!

The forum rules state: These rules aren't very realistic as many users would have to include statements of their professional knowledge in almost every thread they post in. I'm certainly not going to do that - I have professional knowledge of many subjects.

For the avoidance of doubt, and to stop kenshaz's pointless moaning, I am a Chartered Accountant and have been for many years; as an auditor I have audited clients in a variety of different industries including banking and insurance as well as many other areas. Accordingly, part of my income was indirectly linked to the success of banks and other financial institutions.

I also have shares in financial institutions, both directly and indirectly (through ISAs & pensions) and hence a financial interest in the success of banks and other financial institutions.

None of this affects my ability to hold a rational debate on the reasonableness of (in this case) Halifax's behaviour or (in other cases) any other business entity's behaviour.

    What an entertaining thread.
The system of standing orders and direct debits affecting available funds over a weekend when they are due on the first working day of the week ,is because the funds are 'reserved' as money needs to be paid in on the previous working day to cover standing orders and direct debits.
Can I just say that the reverse is also true. If money is due in to account on the first working day of the week, it is also available for withdrawal at the weekend.

Just decided to have a quick look at my thread and can't believe it either!!!

Just to comment on the above post, don't get how the reverse works. I have a standing order credit every monday but can't get it before that??
