  • following on from this, I have had some good advice from a fellow DFW who has been self managing their dmp for, I think, 3 years. This has given me hope, CCCS did say they would reopen our plan but not until overdraft had been sorted out. fair enough I suppose. I was gonna ring national debt helpline but I think I just need to be brave and just carry on what we were paying before, but direct from us! Barclaycard have written to CCCS even though I told them Im taking over, must have got crossed over in the post. Only OH's santander loan is a problem as not heard back from them with their bank details, its the only standing order I cant set up!!!!! Can anyone help with this???? getting annoyed (and quite worried)

    any advice welcome:)

Good luck self managing. It's something I am considering too. What seems to be important is regularlity with DMP, any change kicks off computer madness. As the amounts the same hopefully this will not do this for you. Keep appealing and report them if neccessary.

Hope everyone else ok, welcome to the newbies.

  • I have a new panic now - nothing's changed but now I've just got scared that we could lose the house over all this.
The mortgage will be paid, we can do that but can any of our other creditors chase us and force us out of our house?
Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

    Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93

  • Hi guys still struggling on lol! Got a quickie! All new bank set up, only problem is work are dragging their heels changing my account! If I cancel my dd for loan due 15th, will my old account just take it if wages go in?
    Many thanks in advance!
  • Hi all,
I've been doing a DMP for a nearly a couple of years now, initially with CCCS and for the last year, on my own. All of my creditors except MBNA have been very helpful and co-operative.
MBNA have reduced interest to 12.7%, and waived fees which is great. I have been paying the minimum amount every month on the 2 MBNA CCs but cannot afford to clear the arrears. I have received regular default letters about this but received a second one for each CC today saying if I didn't pay the amount to clear the arrears on each account by 25th Dec, they would consider closing my account, passing it onto a DCA and possibly going to court.

I am now a bit scared about what will happen as there is no way I can find nearly £1500 to clear the arrears. And surely if I am paying the minimum amount every month, that shows willing on my part to clear the debt?

Any advice would be gratefully received. I do not like speaking to them and so really don't want to ring them and be harrassed. :(
Proud to be dealing with my debts

Would anybody be able to pm me any details for Santander?? Not heard from them and its been 3 weeks. CCCS refuse to give me any bank details for them which I do understand, but I cant find anything online either:mad: its sooooooo frustrating, any help anyone can give me would be fab!!

I'm trying to find you this info - all I've got so far is the address it gives on the cheque book, to be used for setting up DDs and SOs:

    Santander
    PO Box 382

Is it wrong that I'm planning in speaking to nobody on the phone??? I can't be dealing with overseas call centers for one and secondly I'm scared stupid.

Currently dodging calls from lloyds until the 19th when I can finally ask them to close my account and tell them Payplan are dealing with things.

A coward??? Me - you bet!

I believe in communicating with them on the phone. If you're strong enough.

Some of the creditors are nasty, the majority nice. I really do believe it made a difference at the start for when they stopped interest and accepted the offers.

Also the majority that phoned weren't from overseas call centres, but specialist debt collection teams.

The only one that was overseas, I hung up on for being obnoxious and rude (and I can put up with a lot of rudeness!)

We're planning on sorting letters and postal orders out over the weekend, but unfortunately as we currently have no cash (well, £10 I think) we'll have to use one of the CC over the weekend to pay for groceries. We've decided that once the letters are sent off, then obviously we can't use the CC any more and will cut all three up as Mr BR gets paid next week (or it might be early the week after, I'd better check)
We;ll find out early next week whether the bank has accepted out application - what on earth do we do if it doesn't?
Also, we'll be paying off the overdraft as part of the DMP - do we keep the old account open for that?

Sorry, but you're advised not to use any CC if you knowingly can't pay it off (That is to say that you're in financial difficulty). Creditors when deciding whether or not to accept your DMP will look at recent use of your card and use that as an excuse not to accept.

I don't mean to scaremonger, just want to warn you that this may happen.

  • Hi Wannabefree. I can second Ianmak's comment in that I only had one unpleasant caller who, I suspect, was on commission. It was my smallest debt (£100 approx) so I suspect she thought there was a good chance of wearing me down. In response I just kept commenting that 'I will only deal with you via Payplan, I will forward your comments to Payplan, Payplan will be in touch, etc, etc'.

Remember, if you did one to give the telephone optionas go, you always have the option of 'oops, I must go, sorry, someone at the door':D

As far as I know you can't lose your home. You could get a charging order attached, but only after getting a CCJ first, and only then if you don't stick to it (Please correct me if I'm wrong!). But that's a long, long way down the road.

These are fairly standard letters. Closing the account 'should' be a good thing as they would normally pass onto the DCA, who should stop all interest and accept your payment.

    That's only a should though!
