Well some more good news! Nationwide have accepted the offer and I spoke to a lovely lady at Barclays who said they hadn't received anything from CCCS but said the offer wouldn't be a problem for them to accept. I feel so relieved!

Excellent news. Hope we have similar luck!

Is it wrong that I'm planning in speaking to nobody on the phone??? I can't be dealing with overseas call centers for one and secondly I'm scared stupid.

Currently dodging calls from lloyds until the 19th when I can finally ask them to close my account and tell them Payplan are dealing with things.

A coward??? Me - you bet!

Well if ur a coward then so am I cause before I sent off my letters I deleted my phone number off of all my online accounts. I've read through this thread and I think that u don't have to speak to them on the phone and can request everything is done by letter, which is wat I'm gonna do cause I'm scared stupid aswell, so ur not on ur own.

Gosh, you go away for a couple of days and what happens? You come back to find lots of new people! Welcome to the forum, an invaluable source of advice and support.

When setting up my DMP I added in everything I could to give me a bit more spending. I became a bespectacled smoker who dry cleaned all my clothes and bought lunch at work every day. Don't know about the rest of you but the budget they recommend for food isn't nearly enough for our family.

Threats of court  well it is not nearly as scary as we all think it is when starting out. Court is usually the very last method for creditors get their money back. If you set up your DMP and stick the payments, notify your creditors and cccs or pay plan (whoever you do your plan through) of any changes straightaway you should be OK. If you do go to court then the judge will look at your outgoings and your income and make a decision on what you can afford to pay. In theory you have already done this when you set up your DMP so there is no point in your creditors taking you to court because it won't change the outcome.

SAAC I am in admiration and awe of your filing system. Puts my carrier bag into shame:rotfl:

Well, Mr BR came home and we had our first money related 'ding-dong'. We're lucky that we don;t usual argue over the biggies, it's usually something stupid like a misunderstanding or where the new loo roll is, you know, lame stuff. Tonight, however, with me having panicked about money, he came home, I burst into tears about how scared I'm feeling which made him feel horrid as he blames himself for the situation (cos it's his debt) and hates to see me so scared. *sigh* We're not married, and he's said before that perhaps I'd be better off if I left him. Of course, I wouldn't, but I think he wants to give me that 'out'.
*Anyway* after hugs and weeping on both sides and more hugs, we sat down and went through a few bank statements and it looks as though the only thing we missed isn't £20 a month, it's £12, so we're just going to see if we can absorb that ourselves.

We're planning on sorting letters and postal orders out over the weekend, but unfortunately as we currently have no cash (well, £10 I think) we'll have to use one of the CC over the weekend to pay for groceries. We've decided that once the letters are sent off, then obviously we can't use the CC any more and will cut all three up as Mr BR gets paid next week (or it might be early the week after, I'd better check)
We;ll find out early next week whether the bank has accepted out application - what on earth do we do if it doesn't?
Also, we'll be paying off the overdraft as part of the DMP - do we keep the old account open for that?

I can recommend keeping stuff organised and filed away, it does makes life easy when dealing with creditors.

The best thing though is doing a shredding exercise when the DMP is over :jI will be keeping just 2011 correspondence and am about half way through my shredding exercise.

  • Well I'm 10 months in with Payplan, it's been going really well up until now. Nationwide passed my CC debt to their in house DCA, KPR. I owe them £2269 and pay nearly £11 to them on DMP. They've just served court papers as want £50 approx a month or full and final of £1500. So annoying as other half a dozen creditors accepted the plan. I've paid on time each month too. CC is fro
early part of this decade so i've sent off for copy of CCA... if they want to play dirty and all that.. Any advice on this, i'vr started separate thread so fingers crossed.

Things get a bit tight some months, but i've stuck to budget. Best decision I made in ringing Payplan last Jan!
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time
  • Sorry, amendment to above post. Took CC out in June 1998.

  • It's so odd how we all have different responses from the same companies. BlushingRose you don't have to talk to your creditors if you are going through a debt management co, it's just my way, I like to know what's going on!

Please do a search for my posts, I had huge issues with Nationwide and they took me to court for 2 accounts, both judgements went my way with the judge being cross with them 2nd time around, its not a fun process but your payments made an ongoing commitment will stand you in good stead.
