Just starting the process of a DMP with CCCS after months of umming and ahhing. Think i will be visiting this thread quite a bit until i am all set up and paying off the debt. Dreading this next bit of dealing with companies not wanting to agree to stop charging. Got quite a bit of debt with HSBC in many forms so guess that will be a fun one looking at past comments.
Anyway hello and i guess i will get to know you all soon
Welcome to the gang. Hope you have a smooth start up. Shout up if you have any questions or need to let off steam

Can I ask are your other accounts CC as the Halifax have refused the amount of instalment from CCCS. Did they take some time to accept yours or did it happen straight away.Unsecured debt: June 2011 £23,910:eek:0

Hello fellow DMP'ers, haven't been here for a while but been catching up on what's been going on.
Things have been tricky. After writing off my car (my fault!) at the end of July sorted out the finance with the insurance company and got myself another motor. Then lo and behold whilst in work the other day got a message to say someone had hit my new car! The damage didn't look too bad but it was another write off so I have to start looking around for something else. However because the other party haven't admitted liability yet my pay out will be less the £200 excess until they do. As I wasn't even in the car when the accident happened I am assuming they will pay up eventually and I will get my excess back, but I'm not holding my breath.
However the moral of this story is that I have managed to put away a little nest egg which will help to cover the missing £200 by taking some very good advice from this forum when setting up my DMP. (See Toffeepenny's post no. 3248). I organised my DMP through CCCS and when filling in my monthly expenses I included allowed amounts for things like smoking, dry cleaning, work canteen expenses etc. I had to lower the smoking expenses as they thought it was too high - but it has allowed me to have some breathing space, which has been a real boon especially when OH's car needed four new tyres. Ultimately it will mean my debts will take longer to pay off but having the stress taken out of life means a lot more.
So to everyone just starting out good luck and once you get over the first few hair raising months you will be so happy that you took the plunge. Best thing I ever did!
Thanks for my DMP number Ian.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Good news, I was just about to write to the Halifax about the charges on our current account when I thought I would brave them and ring. I spoke to a man in the Collection Dept who said that the CCCS had been in touch and that they had suspended all charges from the 4th Oct.
So apart from the 2 CCs with the Hellifax all our creditors have agreed to reduced payments/sus interest.0 -
Thats a great result BevieB0

Hi BevieB and slm6002
Welcome and good luck with it all.
This thread is an absolute wealth of knowledge and support, it has proved invaluable to me at times
Everyone's DMP is a little different but there are some real similarities too and we seem to have been through a lot of the same emotional stuff.:D:mad::(:T_pale_:think::j

Hi, don't worry it will all be ok when the dmp has started running. Then you have something to come back with if you get any creditors ringing. As soon as they ring me I just quote my dmp number at them and they go away!
I did cross my postal orders when I sent mine, and I also sent them via recorded delivery so one could say they hadn't received them.
Ask as many questions as you like, we are all going along the same journey!0
