DMP Mutual Support Thread - Part 7

Hi BazzaFazza
Good luck with setting up your DMP - I hope you're going with one of the charities, not a company you have to pay?
I did a blog about our experience of going on a DMP with CCCS, it can be found using the info in my signature.
I would urge you to be pretty straight about your outgoings etc. After all, you need the reality of the situation to be in place and, I'm guessing, you'd like to get it paid off asap. There are allowances for entertainment, clothing etc etc, and the charities do expect you to be able to live, without too much horror, on what is left.
Best of luck.0 -
Hi Guys,
not been around for a while. I usually 'lurk' though!:rotfl:Me and OH have been on dmp with CCCS for 9 months now. But we have requested a review early due to the fact that our gas and electric has gone up since our I&E was done:( Ive tried changing suppliers but it makes no difference. We were doing ok, till some unfortunate events back in April with OH's work set us back. I have been playing catch up ever since.
I was told to give up my full time job due to health issues, so looking to work from home now (fingers crossed should hear this week on a couple of things!)
We pay £1004 a month:eek: on our dmp and today I told the CCCS that I wish we had started off with a smaller amount and worked our way up, much better than saying to creditors we've got to go down, we really dont wanna rock the boat as everything has been mega quiet.
But I struggle every month particularly with food shopping and petrol, we never ever have any money! I just dont get it, according to our I & E that I did with CCCS we should be fine, but we've got nothing left, well not enough to eat with or anything!!
any ideas guys???? what are we doing wrong? i am soooooo confused, sad, depressed and upset!!!!LBM: April 2009 - honest debt figure: Secured: £0.00!! (paid back april 2017) unsecured: £53117.48 (roughly) back with CCCS starting again:(0 -

Best of luck.
Just had a read over on my lunch break. Very helpful thanks.
From a quick look it seems as though this is what I'll be dealing with:
Income -
£1292pm (salary)
Expenditure -
£800 (rent)
£27 (phone)
£200 (housekeeping)
£100 (transport)
£15 (dental)
£1142 (total)
£150 surplus
Leaving me with £100 that I'd like to pay each month and £50 to cover anything else. Does that sound feasible?0 -
Hi all
Havent been on for a while. All seems to be very quiet dont know if that is a good or bad thing. I have somehow absorded (sorry about spelling) the increase in Morgage and my sons playschool fees. I have now realised that the money has come from treats but I did not want to lower my payments or I would never clear my debts. Hope all is well with everyone else.
Good luck to all on or starting a DMP it is worth it in the end, I now sleep at nights.Debt Free No. 403

Hi all. Exciting development today. There is a note on Payplan Plus that they are now sending offer letters to my creditors. So, thanks to all you forum users I now know to expect phone calls during which aforementioned creditors will deny any receipt of such letters, lol. Here's to arguments to come:beer:

I have three accounts with 'Halifax' - Halifax, Sainsburys and IF. All three stopped interest and passed over to Blair Oliver & Scott, and Westcott within a few months. All quiet at the moment for me!DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Hi everyone, I too am new to the whole DMP situation!! I have recently started a DMP with CCCS. I received a letter from LLoyds to say that (in short) since the beginning of September they have added on over £150 in interest. They have also (very kindly) added on an extra £110 to my overdraft to cover their charges.
I owe:
Lloyds loan 3500
Lloyds overdraft 2450
Additions 4000
Studio 100
I am payin £310 a month to try and pay these off as soon as possible. Does anybody have any experience of dealing with Lloyds, or any other company that would not stop the interest? What is my next step?
Also I was in acar accident a few months ago (have a medical on Friday) and will be receiving some compensation. Just wondering what the current "normal" acceptable percent for full and final settlement is? There has been a lot of talk on this within this thread and many others but all the comments seem a bit conflicting. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank youDMP start date Sept 2011 - 10,150

I am feeling very fustrated today. Our DMP is going well all have frozen interest or reduced to 3% except the Hellifax. They have increased my rate from approx 7% as on special deal to their standard rate and are also charging me £12x2 for late payment/over credit limit. Both myself and husband have CC with them and owe between us £25K!!
I have written today and asked the to stop interest etc and advised them that I will pass case to the Financial Ombudsman as they have made our situation much worse and feels like they are punishing us for facing up to our debts (Rate etc increased due to late payments as CCCS pay after pay date!!)
I know they most prob will play ball eventually but this is causing me to become depressed.
Sorry to rant on about the Hellifax but it helps to share my misery!!0 -
I know it can be very frustrating, however you need to get on with your day to day life, and try not to worry too much about these things. You have faced up to your debts and taken your first step to being debtfree.
Also not however that your creditors do not have to freeze interest (though they should hopefully stop and refund the late payment charges). Have you tried ringing them?DMP mutual support thread No: 2430
