    Hi guys,

Not posted for a while have been lurking. Now 6 months into our dmp, and we have a couple of worrying letters from creditors. The default ones where they say, if you dont pay your arrears we may start court proceedings blah blah blah. CCCS have said dont worry just file letters away. But thats easier said than done lol. Had another one for MBNA for OH today, basically saying same thing. You pay us £1600 arrears or may pass onto DCA, and then sometimes you get the court bit at the bottom. To be honest, I wouldnt mind them passing onto DCA as I find them easier to deal with!

We have had to reduce our CCCS payment for this month only, due to some financial upsets (not our fault, I might add). we usually pay £1004 a month:eek: now down to £55 just for June. Have informed all creditors they were fine when I rang them. When I rang about my MBNA card (as I've never received one letter from them) the guy was sooooo nice and said thats fine, you may get a default letter but please dont worry about it. I thought, ahh bless:rotfl::rotfl:

OH's halifax CC has been passed to Blair, Oliver and Scott who I can talk to. I did have to laugh tho, as the lady said to me, well you know your OH owes just over £11,000 as a settlement we would take £10,000:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: now that made me laugh! as if!!! I wish I did have £10,000 just laying around lols.

So thats my update for now. To anyone who is still thinking about doing a dmp, and is thinking, oh I dont know....... dont! just go for it, I promise you it will the best decision you will ever ever make!

Hi Bertie..my account is with LLoyds TSB..they have refused the offer of payment saying its too little..the alternative I guess is to do my own DMP with them.
Can you do that? Would that not mean you wouldn't have enough money for living expenses etc? Or would you pay less to the main DMP?

You need to stick to your realistic budget - If Lloyds wont accept then so be it, they can make a decision as to whether they wish to take it further. You cannot setup a DMP with different rules for different creditors, you must show fairness in the distribution of your funds.

Its difficult but you must maintain the mantra "This is what I have and this is my offer" - often if you agree to pay more it causes the others (if they find out) to get the hump and may even lead to more demands as you have shown that you can be moved!

make a realistic budget, make the offers and stick to them.

Hope this is of some help ;)

When I was first talking to National Debtline I didn't want to include one of our credit agreements as we only had 5 more months left on it, but national debtline said the other creditors would see it as unfair that we could continue to pay one as normal but not the rest, I could see why after looking at it from their point of view!

Thanks..I am sticking to my guns,I think the reason it was rejected is because the offer was only £6 a month as my two main creditors are getting £50 odd pounds a month, I spoke to SCM the dept who are now handling my bank account and they said that the offer has probably been rejected because the acc has been closed and passed over to a DCA, she said just keep paying and wait until the DCA contact me. I have been paying into my DMP for two months and the other creditors accepted the offers.

A guy on the train the other day and was routing through his wallet. He must have pulled out around 7 or 8 credit cards.

Now, he's either in too much debt, does lots of balance transfers and is coping, or is a pickpocket!

As the magicians always like to say - 'Pick a card-any card!'
I find it difficult enough these days to cope with one debit card, and the embarrassment of trying to take out library books with your Tesco clubcard has to be experienced to believed.......:o

Off subject - ain't Google grand today? Could play for hours on the guitar thingy - little things etc.etc :D

    Hi everyone

Following my review which reduced my monthly payment by nearly £200 per month I received a letter today from a Nxt. They have accepted the revised payment.

So that is 2 acceptance and 1 refusal.

Just another 8 creditors to go hopefully all accept, but if they don't I will do as CCCS say and that is to continue paying what I have offered. They cannot have what I don't have.

    Regards

  • Hi :)
Just been reading through everyone's posts. I'm feeling really positive about getting my debts sorted at the moment! When I first booked my appointment with Christians Against Poverty I was having the 'dark days'; sleepless nights, always on edge, but now that my appointment's just around the corner I'm feeling really good. Have made a bit of a head start even before my CAP appointment.
Mint have stopped interest and accepted reduced payment :) I've caught up my payments with MBNA, so although interest is still high, I am meeting the minimum payments and they're no longer harassing me with phone calls every day. Just Bank of Scotlands mammoth £700 minimum payment (on a £4000 CC) to get sorted. It's made up of so many late/under payment/over limit charges that it just won't stop growing. Really hoping CAP will get them sorted for me, as it's that one that's really worrying.

Hope everything is going well for all! Take care.
Will pop in again after my meeting with CAP on Tuesday.
