As the magicians always like to say - 'Pick a card-any card!'
I find it difficult enough these days to cope with one debit card, and the embarrassment of trying to take out library books with your Tesco clubcard has to be experienced to believed.......:o
Off subject - ain't Google grand today? Could play for hours on the guitar thingy - little things etc.etc

Hey Twitty, your comments always make me smile:D
MBNA rang today - told them (again) I am in the process of setting up my DMP with CCCS. They said this takes 3 months and could I sort out a repayment plan with them? I said no, it wouldn't be fair to the other creditors. Now I'm pretty sure it doesn't take 3 months and they were just trying to get a payment. Can anyone tell me (realistically) how long it does take?
Plus I have been approached by a company asking me if I want to try and claim back mis-sold payment protection insurance. I have never taken any PPI but they reckon we have definitely been mis-sold it and could get a lot of money back. I'm tempted to go for it but is this going to seriously upset my creditors?DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

I have been paying into my DMP for two months and the other creditors accepted the offers.
Hi MTTM
Just to let you know, the same thing happened to me with one of my 2 Lloyds TSB overdrafts (£ 250). SCM is the department they use within Lloyds to let you know thay are passing you to the first stage of "recoveries". Ours was then passed to ANOTHER department within Lloyds trying to make themselves look as if they were a separate debt collection agency called "BLS Collections", but if you look at their paperwork, they are a part of Lloyds TSB. We had the initial " we may take you to court to collect this if you don't pay immediately" letter, but when I phoned and spoke to them they were fine. I had another letter from them today as I had reduced my DMP payment further due to maternity leave, and they were getting 37p less per month (lol). Again it said we MAY take action to recover this sum, but when I phoned them they were fine and reset the account for 6 months. Sometimes I think creditors like to create a sense of panic with "we may do this" and "we could do that", but I think they are really just reminding us of what they COULD do, not necessarily what they WILL do. Hope this may put you mind at rest a wee bit. Have a good weekend.

Hi all.
Today it all got too much for me, and so I finally phoned CCCS and booked an appointment for next week. I am going to get this sorted, and I need help to do it now. I am still scared, and worried about the future, but at least it will sort out my debts. I don't really know what happens next, I have written to my immediate hasslers and informed them that I have contacted CCCS and will be entering a DMP. I'm not sure what else I can do without the interview.Total Debt: £0 [STRIKE]£33,043[/STRIKE]

Southern Belle, well done! You'll have a busy month or so while it all gets sorted out (making budgets, sending letters, etc), but believe me, the relief that you will feel that you are sorting it out, and that there are people to help, is ENORMOUS!!!! I can't explain how much better I feel now that I've faced it and am dealing with the issue.
Everyone have a great weekend!!!!

Hi all and thanks Ianmak for updating my DMP support number - I will add it to my signature again!
Juat wondered if anyone could advise please - I've been on my DMP for a couple of years now and partner just set one up in his own name but the car is due an MOT in a couple of weeks and has loads of work to be done so have asked CCCS if he can start his DMP in August. Has anyone had any experience of starting a couple of months after informing creditors? CCCS not able to write to creditors yet as waiting to find out if his wages have been paid into his new account (last month his work forgot and paid into his one which will be going onto the DMP)!
I started mine straight away and managed not to miss any payments so really pannicking and he is the most stubborn person and pannicking like crazy!
Thanks MM xx1 stone 12bs lost .... :jOnly another 58lb to go to interim target

I'm just in the process of completing paperwork for DMP with CCCS. I've been told that I need a new bank account as some of my debt is with my current bank (Natwest).
Can anyone recommend where to go to get a new account for someone with rubbish credit score, and whether I'll be likely to be allowed a debit card to access my money??
Also, should I be honest with a new bank about my situation or just keep quiet??
Thanks in advance,
Sophie
I took out a cash account with Barclays.....card to access my own money..no credit.
Just answer the questions they ask truthfully and thats all you need to do.0 -

It took me ages to finally bite the bullet but a few years down the line - so glad I did!

Please don't deal with the company. They will charge you for it, and quite possibly rip you off, and if you WERE missold, you can put in a claim yourself.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

Thanks for the good advice. Not sure if I want to pursue the PPI thing but it is worth looking into at the very least.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Oh the inconsistencies of RBS Preference Account people. Since we started the DMP last autumn they've had the DMP paperwork five times - they still say they haven't got it. I did a full SOA type thing on the phone with them in March. Between the set up and March they'd been hammering on % and default charges every month. I rang them in Feb, again in March, again in April and was told different things each time - 'just a few more pounds and we'll accept it / we've accepted the DMP / we'll accept it for two months only' with different responses again on the % and default sums.
Anyhow, I got brassed off with it and rang today. Got a very nice chap on the phone who listened carefully as I explained the situation. I said that they'd got me forced into a corner and was making the payment of £7 pm to them utterly pointless (as I'm getting charged around £35 pm by them). I calmly explained that I'd been made redundant and was trying my damndest to sort out the whole situation (citing all the contacts I'd had, with whom and what had been said) and that the other creditors were being helpful......
After battering his head he went away to talk to a manager, came back and said there'd clearly been a 'system error' that was absolutely not my fault and that they acknowledged that I'd been trying hard to sort it out and that they'd failed in their customer service to me.
Result - refunded all the % and defaults since January (over £200), no more defaults and only a nominal % rate for the next six months.
Just shows that sometimes it's worth rattling the cage. I do think that sometimes the DMP can distance you from your debts - this is good in some respects but in another I do think it's worth reviewing everything monthly (or so) and getting in touch with creditors if you don't like what you see.
Only a small victory but hey ho :-)0
