Well my situation seems to be changing on a daily basis. DMP started jan 2011. Doing well. partner decides to leave me  and now wants half house. So sort legal advise and offered to buy her out the amount very generous for the amount of equity we have she refused the money coming from parents. Now i find may not be able to transfer my sole name onto mortgage due to debts etc. So may have to sell and rent. In which case i will be thinking of declaring myself bankrupt as then i will have nothing to lose.
    oh dear

Oh i'm so sorry to hear your bad news :( i don't know much about transferring mortgages across etc but just wanted to say good luck with it all and offer some moral support!, have you tried the CAB they may have some useful advice? I'm sure someone on here will be along soon to answer your q's though.

Well its been almost 6 months since our last post, as we have been megga busy... scrimping and saving, we have managed to get enough "spare cash" to do some well needed renovations to the house. Thanks to "Freecycle", and a friend lending us a cement mixer, we have also managed to fix up the garden to a state that we are happy with.

A swap around with cars has seen us able to give back the main family car to the finance company as we had made over 50% of the total payments.. and, we now have a lovely car, cheap to run, economical and more suitable to our needs.
the "spare" cash has been useful as Mrs Spice was made redundant at the end of May so we still have enough "slack" in our SOA and in our DMP to not affect things too much.
We donot think a holiday is possible this year, but with our new garden, and a summer that looks like being a warm one, this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Mrs Spicy has just found out were expecting a new Spicy... so our goal is to work our finances so were no worse off when the new arrival is worked into the finance equasion.

To all those just starting out, DO IT NOW!!! do not wait, get in touch with Payplan \ CCCs and get the ball rolling. it is the best thing we have ever done.

  • Hello all. Well, my appointment is tomorrow and I've been gathering all the details. What I'm really scared of them is them saying they can't help me, and me having to deal with it on my own (silly I know). It's the payday loan which has really ruined me at the moment, everything else was ticking along. Grr, I have been so bloomin' silly.

Is there any advice for my phone interview? :)

Hi, I've been reading all these threads for the last couple of years while muddling along on my DMP and all the posts have always helped when things have got a bit sticky...Got into trouble with debt due to job change/house move/relationship breakdown/ relocation all coinciding..but pulled everything together and with the help from the info on this forum, started a DMP.
In the last 18 months I've managed to incorporate all my debts in the DMP (some I was advised against including in the first place, which made budgeting really difficult, but I think it was because Payplan didn't understand what they were), and I've reduced my outgoings by about £200 a month, and increased the payments another £100 above this, so things are pretty ok.:o
Problem is just the length of time I'm going to have to do this!! The debts are huuuuge, and 2015 seems a long way away. I've been trying to motivate myself by thinking how much I will manage to pay off in the first two years, but it's difficult to stay motivated. Feel pretty isolated as only close family know the extent of the problem, and friends are a bit confused as I'm lucky to have a job that means I should be ok. Am in a flat on my own, and can't decide if a flatshare would be better (more people around) but then there's the real worry about shared bills and unexpected bills. At least now I'm totally in control (or at least it's my fault if things go wrong :rotfl:). Anyone else feel the same?!!
  • Well that was a complete waste of my time. CCCS just told me to suck it up and deal with it myself.

I phoned asking for help, and it was all "well, the system says you should be fine" - REALLY?!!

Well I'm obviously bloomin' not fine am I?

No advice on my Payday loan. None at all.

    Bloomin' pointless.

I just wanted some help, and now I'm sat at work crying and wondering what else I can sell. Considering things that I've never even thought about before.

southernbelle...I'm really surprised that CCCS said that!!
Have you done an SOA to see if other MSErs can help reduce your outgoings at all??
I'm at a loss of what to suggest tbh...how about trying another debt charity??

I really feel for you :( (((HUGS)))

ETA: Fitz...only 4 years to go...lucky thing:p:D We've got another 7 at least:o:) Hoping for an earlier DFD but its doubtful as I'd like a sibling for my DD in the not to distant future...just waiting til we build our reserve up again:o

southernbelle, i too am really surprised at CCCS, they seem lovely when I talk to them. Do you have 'spare' income after all outgoings except the debt repayments? It might be worth giving National Debtline a call. Big hugs xxx

  • The bank took away my overdraft with no notice, which CCCS wouldn't take account of. They couldn't help with the Payday Loan company apparently. Because I have "almost" enough to service my debts (not taking into account all my arrears and late fees etc which I told them about), then basically I have to do it myself.

I have cancelled my debit card and will have to go into battle with Wonga by myself, which I am really scared about. I'm going to end up in deeper trouble than I am at the moment. I am seriously considering just running away from it all because I can't see a way out.

  • I can't really reduce my outgoings any further - I am in the Army so I have all my food taken straight out of my wages (and rent etc). What that also means though is that I have certain "social" things which are work related and which I can't reduce. For example, dinners I have to attend but also have to pay for. :(
