I have also opened a new bank account and cancelled all direct debits with old bank account. We are know waiting to hear from CCCS. The phone calls from creditors has already started but i have not been answering the phone as i dont feel like i can face them. Is this okay or would i be better off speaking to them?
If you don't feel up to talking to them then don't pressure yourself to, they will get all the info they need from the letters you already sent.
If/when you do feel strong enough to answer the phone, just quote your CCCS number and tell them to contact CCCS if they want any more info, then hang up - don't let them draw you into conversation.
Well done for getting as far as you have, the hard work is now behind you so onwards and upwards

Morning all :-)
I've just had ANOTHER call from Gregory Pennington. I think it's about the 30-ish something time so I answered - told him that I'm going
with the CCCS as they are free........ halfway through my sentence, he just hung up!!!! Cheeky s*d!!
So todays lesson learnt - stay away from companies that charge!
I learnt this lesson the hard way and spent almost 3 years with a fee paying firm.........if i had gone with Payplan from the start i would have now been debt free for over a year!! I paid over 2.5k in charges over the 3 years to Bainst & Ernst....!!!!!!:eek:
Anyone just starting out on their dmp journey go with the free companys ie Payplan /CCCS....and if you are with a fee paying firm now...SWITCH OVER.....it was so straight forward and simple to do.Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -

This is all true, but personally I really do think it helped me at the beginning to deal with the creditors direct on the phone. I certainly think it helped them to accept the payments more quickly.
However you do need to be strong if you go down that route, as some of the phonecalls can be a bit nasty!DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Two Noobies, a big welcome to you both. Please stick around, as I say to everyone, I hate giving these numbers out and then they disappear without trace...

Our lloyds and halifax credit cards have both frozen intrest though! I have rang the Halifax but they say they cant do anything about it.
Hi, I am in overdraft for £4000 with Halifax. I wrote a letter to them yesterday explaining my financial woes. They rang me today and will not charge any more interest for 6 months. Its £58 a month I'll be saving, will pay for some other bill! At least its something. The guy was lovely, from Customer Services.0 -
Hi,
Quick update from me..
Everything has gone fairly quiet, 1st payment went to CCCS on 1/3/11 so payments to creditors will go on the 25th.
Is it normal not to hear from some creditors at all to say whether they have accepted the DMP or not?
I sent my 3rd letter (recorded delivery) to Barclays Partner Finance to stop the multiple phone calls but my DH is still getting them everyday! I answered the phone to them the other day and informed them that we had already written to them about the phonecalls, we wouldn't be answering again and we wouldn't be rining them. The lady on the end of the phone just kept repeating herself "please ask Mr ...... to call us". They just don't give up do they!!
Oh well, as long as it is all quiet I will try and enjoy my day!
Hope everyone else is having a quiet day!Shellshock  or Nik now the shock has subsided!!DMP March 11Savings account opened Jan 11 £10£1 coin savings tin - £22Total Debt [STRIKE]Jan £31,519.87[/STRIKE]!!!:( March [STRIKE]£30,879[/STRIKE] April £30,202DMP Member 4020 -
Hi Shellshock,
None of mine have actually written to say yes or no but my alliance and leicester overdraft has reduced the monthly charge from £5/mth to £1.50/mth so its a start, from reading on here acceptance seems very random. I've been lucky and havn't had too many phone calls but there are some hints and tips and letter templates on here that might help.
Good luck and have a good dayFinal no going back LBM 20/12/10Debt Jan 2011 [STRIKE]£28217.65[/STRIKE][STRIKE][/STRIKE] DMP start 01/02/11 -[STRIKE][/STRIKE]

Re: hearing from creditors.
Yup, it's quite usual to hear nothing from some, therefore not giving you a definative answer if they accept/decline, terms etc.
Keep an eye on statements (if you they're still sending them regularly.) Just make sure you keep paying your arranged DMP payment.
And keep in mind David beat Goliath!

Well I plucked up the courage and answered phone to santander today. They were very nice. I said I was on a DMP so he said he would put notice on account to stop phonecalls. He did look for a mobile phone no to put on file but i said I didn't have one. He also said they hadn't received anything from cccs. Hmm not too sure about that! I then phoned cccs who were lovely and told me not to worry. They also said I may not hear from my creditors but to keep checking statements they send me. Feeling much better now so thanks again ianmak for the advice re phonecalls.0
