It might have also made a difference if people (possibly the scammers themselves) hadn't come on here saying what trustworthy individuals they were to do business with. I wonder how many were waiting to see how is turned out because of this, instead of alerting the police.

I have been reading these posts, with interest, having returned from holiday.

Running Horse cant get past the scammers posting on here, I am allegedly one of these.

Yes, the phones are totally dead @ IPG offices, certain individuals have been having a good laugh at the unfortunates who have have been conned, really nice of you! I am sure that one day the boot will be on the other foot. Others have implied that the monies were paid to IPG out of greed, in many cases they were not, it was through a need to sell their home with the min of hassles, which has not been the case - I dont believe for one minute that everyone was offered over the current market price for their home (that has been written by soothsayers in the past). Another issue which seems to crop up sporadically is the need for posters to keep saying sell your home through a reputable agent and drop your price - many people sell their home privatley and very successfully every day of the week and as for the price, who says our homes are overpriced, its people such as those who profiteer from guzundering etc that appear to want decent working people to sell their homes at rock bottom prices so that they can try to sell them themselves at a small profit or rent them to people at an extortionate rate each month.

It is sad that people have lost their cash and the trail has gone dead on Mr Brown alias Mr Smythe, alias Mr Capello, they will without doubt rear their heads again sometime in the future but in the meantime they are probably sitting having a good laugh themselves at the narrowmindedness of some people on here who take great delight in wallowing in others probs.
  • If this was a murder investigation or a Peodophile website, the Police would have filled the cells ages ago.

true, very true. I am sure the police are working on an assumption that the man hours involved in this matter would greatly outweigh the penalites IPG would incur for their scam.

To be fair, the Police do not have the resources to investigate every scam as if it were a murder, nor would the good folk on MSE want taxes raised enough to pay for it.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • Some good points raised above, I think MP's should be notified of these scams. The least the police could do is gather the names and addresses of all individuals scammed and raise it with the relevant MPs, the total money lost would be noted, they could then devise ways to eliminate the scamming. In fact, not too dissimilar to the new rules brought out to stop another financial crisis. Well this is what we pay our taxes for, for the brightest brains in the country, don't you think ? OR am I on the wrong track ?

The main emphasis in this country is to discourage future law-breaking. I imagine that this is seen as a success, because the crims got scared off quite quickly and not that many people were scammed. I would just guess from the fairly small numbers turning up here, that less than 100 people lost money, maybe a lot less. That doesn't help the people who were scammed at all, and I think that this was a particularly nasty scam by the way.

Are you? OK, thanks for that.

From day one all the regular posters here have been saying this is an obvious scam. While others joined this site just to say what a professional outfit IPG are and how it may all work out in the end.

People who got scammed must make up their own minds who now sounds more trustworthy, and ask themselves why they delayed reporting this to the police.

But as you didn't pay anthing to IPG this no longer concerns you, does it?

  • Let's face it, nobody really knows how many people got scammed, the reality is that the police should at least get the numbers and log everything on how it happened, you then live and learn. If you don't learn from your mistakes then the country goes into recession because everyone is suspicious about doing business with anyone else. The police lose a whole bundle of jobs, the country gets more corrupt...there's a bigger recession... need I say more ?

I hope you are feeling much better after your stint in the mental institute.

    This concerns you - why?

None of your business I think is the term, you have come on here to dwell on peoples misery and make snide comments!
  • No problem matey. I will leave all the victims of this scam in the capable hands of someone who consistently told them they weren't being scammed, and who keeps gloating he never paid a penny. I'm sure they will immediately elect you their spokesman in dealing with the police.

After all you do have extensive correspondence with the scammers and their solicitors. Should be very useful tracking these criminals. But next time these people rear their ugly heads, and they will, perhaps you will not be quite so quick to defend them and their illegal methods on this website.
