They have made perhaps 50k each in a couple of months by preying on the most vulnerable. It's hard to make that in a legit business. I'm just guessing about the numbers ofc, assuming we've only seen a small percentage of their victims turn up here.

In a way you got to chuckle at the idiocy of some people though... while i have sympathy... the whole scam preyed on peoples inherent greed and stubbornes.

If you house is priced right, it woukld sell... also why would a buyer offer you more money when he could snap it up for less? Madnesss complete madness..
  • What a waste of time Companies House is, don't they know where to look either ??? They obviously want us all to pay for all the reports to find out if a company is genuine !

Companies House is not an investigative agency, nor does the information they have on file tell you whether a company is genuine or not.

I do not work for them, but I use their information from time to time, and it's fine for what it is - which is a repository for information that companies are legally required to file. If the company is legit, then the data is useful, but if it's a bogus enterprise then it may all be a complete fiction.
  • Just one question, if the police are onto this, then why have they not shutdown the investment property group website. I would be interested to find out who in the police force (a name or town/city police force would be useful) is actually dealing with the case so that I can add myself to the list, best regards.
  • Hi, I too would like to know the MET point of contact as I was led to believe by both my local force and that in which property is based would have passed on info. Of course cannot assume this might have happened so any more info would be great pse. So want to see the Ben.Watson@IPG , Liam and crew stand in line. What a bunch of total wasters and deserve to be hung.

How pathetic! They've given up before they've even started.

I wonder if they even bothered to contact Lloyds Bank, whose Fraud Unit was alerted by us in mid-June that this company (who banked with them) was running an illegal operation.

The answer lies with the bank. All that money has gone somewhere. Follow that trail, Mr Plod, if you can spare the time from prosecuting easy-to-trace motorists for trivial traffic offences.

Those who have been defrauded since mid-June might like to ask Lloyds why they continued to accept transfers into the account of a company that they knew was an illegal operation.

I agree with both those comments. I'm sure the trail has gone cold now, and it's such a shame that the Police didn't collar this lot whilst they were still operating. Sadly, people did not report these guys to the Police as early as they might have.

If people stopped jumping at these "too good to be true" offers, these scams would never happen.
If you wish to sell your house do it hrough a reputable agent.
If they cannot sell it, you need to drop the price.

It might have also made a difference if people (possibly the scammers themselves) hadn't come on here saying what trustworthy individuals they were to do business with. I wonder how many were waiting to see how is turned out because of this, instead of alerting the police.
    Been away for a while.

Given the police's reluctance to get involved in anything that taxes their intelligence, such as detective work, it seems that these criminals have carte blanche to start up an identical operation under a different name. In fact, I would be very surprised if they have not already done so. They are probably drawing unsuspecting people into their net as I write this.

As the name of the new illegal operation is still unknown to us, any potential victim googling the name will not find anything helpful as yet. So here's a couple of generic phrases that might show up on a search: property buying scam, house buying scam, details of how these criminal gangs operate are on this thread.
