it only takes five minutes to be polite and say sorry i m not intrested

thats to long.. Just say "I dont buy from the door good bye" make a sign saying that and if they do come to your door just say that and shut the door. If they say any thing dont reply.. You know they going to say I am just trying to save you money.

It's illegal to fail to leave someone's property when requested to do so (civil trespass). The householder can use reasonable force to eject them if necessary and may call the police to prevent a breach of the peace while they do so. If your front door opens directly on to the pavement you might have a problem.

civil trespass is for premises are open to the public..

What you are talking about is aggravated trespass you must ask them to leave and if they dont it will be come aggravated trespass. Before that its trespass which theys not a lot you can do about apart from sue them.. if they enter your home to steal or inflict GBH on someone or rape someone or inflict criminal damage. Then it will be come Burglarty

    The best way to get rid of them are;

I'm a tenant and I'm not allowed to switch supplier

I owe £750 to _insert energy company_, can I swtich (you can not change supplier if there is a bad debt outstanding)

My mate (39 yr old guy) told me he flirts with all the sales guys that come to the door (they make a swift exit) :rotfl:
Sometimes he says he gets lucky, but still doesn't buy anything :T

Tell them you are in the process of being reposessed

Most of these things require a credit chsek, so tell them you are abankrupt

    or....
    whatever floats your boat

Talk Talk called the other week-
I asked "do you still have overseas call centres?"
    Yes
Come back when your centres are all in the UK then I will be interested.

There is an 'implied invitation' for callers to visit your front door by entering on to your external property. This allows people like postmen, newspaper deliveries, meter readers etc. to visit. Once the implied invitation is removed by asking them to leave they become trespassers, and, as you rightly say, the remedy at that stage lies by way of civil action.

cold callers , i hate so much i even hate people who call on my doorbell and when i go down say is so and so in and i go no and they go he lives in flat 2 i then have to tell them that my doorbell says flat 3 and thus i have no clue to the comings and goings of anyone in any other flat
and James you may be my brother but get a proper job instead of annoying people in there home and learn to read peoples signs they are there for a reason not because they haven't met you yet ..

Some of them already wear lime green reflective jackets to make you think they're dustmen (aka Recycling Operatives) or something.
