Sorry to say my "No Cold Callers" isn't working!

Can I ask, were Southern Electric part of the few 'major' utility firms who signed up to take heed of Martin's new sign!? I have the smaller one in my front window and the larger one on my door and yet still have door knockers - three this week alone! One was a charity, fair do's but again I don't think it's fair to try people at home, I do give to charity but when I choose to. The second was a firm seeing if I needed cavity wall insulation/loft insullation and just had a Southern Electric guy here too! The cheek of it is they say - "saw your sign - but..." all sent away with a flee in their ear but what's the point of the sign if they all ignore it!
Hmpf!

I'm sure you were warm and friendly, they all are but I'm sorry, I have the sign there for a reason - I have the ability to make my own choices, search for my own 'good' deal and don't need someone coming to my door telling me they can do better. I have a young son and when at I'm at home do not want the hassle of answering the door to people I don't want to see, especially when he is having a nap! What about elderly people who have these signs, they shouldn't get hassled, no-one should?! So there really isn't a point to them then? Sigh!

Couldn't agree more, I dont like to be rude but it really gets my back up when they ignore official signs up which tell them you aint interested

One day I will have a door intercom I already filter out cold callers 100% on phone via a device

Its now getting norm that they now pester you in supermarkets too, I know they get a back hander from the companies and they can do what they like, but they dont seem to realise many customers dont want them. I just tend to walk by ignore them or say "no thank you" but you get odd one puzzled as to why and then want to ask you. I think to myself "F off"

the reason for that is its very difficult to sell door to door (as people claim they dont want to be bothered in there own homes) so they do it in shopping centres etc as it gets them noticed

Sorry but isn't that the whole point of the sign in the first place!? I'm not trying to be impolite, I am trying to say we shouldn't have to answer the door to unwanted callers in the first place. Full stop. And, why should I have to apologise for not being interested in what they are selling anyway?! Like I said, I'm a grown up who can seek her own deals - herself - I don't need someone coming into my own personal space and telling me differently! It's my house and they should keep away! Hmpf!

As for supermarket sellers, that to me isn't the same - still annoying sometimes, but it's easy to say "no thanks" and walk away.. going to someone's home is totally different! And I don't 'claim' to not want to be bothered in my own home I 'know' I don't want to be bothered - hence the sign!

I realise that but many people dont want to be bothered shopping either.

Many of us can make our own minds up, a simply 'no' should suffice I got one 2 weeks back he wouldn't let it go, 5-6 minutes later he dropped it, I sometimes wonder if only message they get is P off, yes its rude but one can only take some much of a conversation which isn't always welcome by the shopper
