If the limit is 30mph, and 1 pic shows you doing 33mph and and another 38mph, then correct me if I'm wrong but you are exceeding the speed limit.

You make the assumtion that one of the readings is correct Iand from what I can make it out that is not certain.

And if they are going to nick you it has to be accurate regardless of the speed you are doing.

Take it on the chin and pay the fine.

No. Do the speed awareness course you mentioned. It takes half a day but you get plenty of choice of dates (at least in Wiltshire).

I did one last year for 38 in a 30.

It was informative and useful. The cost is less than the conviction (no costs to pay) and best of all you don't have to report it to your insurers.

I think you pay the £60 and do the course (but don't get points)

That is correct. The fee for the course is £60. If you go to court you will pay the £60 fine and £15 or so in court costs.

When I said no costs to pay I meant no court costs.

As I said the big advantage is that it isn't a conviction and you don't have to report it to your insurers. I asked this specific question on the course.

What I should have said was to pay the £60 to do the course.

If I was 'speeding' at 33 then I would be within the 'allowance'? If I was driving at 38, then so be it. It is just I live no more than 200 metres from where this picture was taken, on the same road, so know the limit well. The photos, rather than confirm my speed only seem to confuse. If you read the figures correctly I travelled 70.7 metres in reverse at an estiamted speed of 158mph.

I am not trying to 'squirm' out fo this. This cannot be further from the truth. Having four children of my own and a grandchild, road safety is very important - having no speeding or driving offences in 32 years must go some way to show I am not your boy racer type.

Sorry David D, it looks as though some of the discussion since this post has gone off at a tangent, as is often the case on MSE!

Anyhoo, good luck with your case, I am sure you'll get more focussed advice now you've registered on pepipoo. Seems to me the evidence is flawed so if it were me I would not be paying that fine.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Because posts on MSE can have different purposes.

    1. To answer a specific Q asked by the OP.
    2. To give more general advice / information, related to the post, to other readers.
    3. To make gratuitously offensive remarks about the OP or anyone else.:D

How is the evidence flawed? Just because you can't interpret it, it doesn't mean it is flawed.

I accept I may not be reading the information supplied as correct.

My initial thread was with regard to the photographic 'evidence' that was supplied and appears to confuse rather than clarify. The hope was that someone with experience here could make sense of what the two photos confirm.

Perhaps I am being stupid, but to me it looks like that within ONE second:
    • I had increased my speed by 5mph
    • Travelled 70.7 metres with is equal to 158-202mph depending on your mathmatics
    • Driving in reverse, according to the log.

Yes, I probably will attend the course, I was just hoping to get answers from this forum
