And around 8 points .... your Insce company starts making aggressive noises.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

It depends on what the points were for - I had 9 points once and it made little difference to my premium. Around £30 extra for the last 3 points.

70-100mph on mway and you'll get 3 points and £60 fine. More than 100 and you'll probably go to court.

........ as post #7, you'll be very fortunate to get away with less than 5 points at anything over 90mph. (in a 70mph area)

I'll have to revisit the speedtrap bible. They were talking about changing the points structure recently anyway.
I received 3 points for doing 93mph on the motorway.

If the photos are of the rear of the car only then say you did not know who was driving at the time. The people who issue the speeding fines should eventually drop the case as they don't have any evidence to prosecute anyone with.

Also I have heard that sending the NIP (Notice of Intended Proscutions, the thing which they will send you in the post) back without having signed will close the case without any fines been issued.

FYI, I was caught 27 miles above the limit and was fined £200 with £35 costs and 5 penalty points. Although they wrote to the owner of the car within 2 weeks I wasn't processed until 6 months later!

Damn. Am going to be on tenter hooks for months!

They have to send the Notice of Intended Prosecution to the registered owner within 14 days - so if that's you, then that's how long you have to wait. The process after that can take months.
  • hi speedy,

just thought i'd share but my boss was caught speeding by cameras and not that i'm recommending this method of action (and coinsidentially he moved house) he ignored the tickets! its been 6months and nothing yet.

(he is not the sort of person that usually avoids them but since his run in with nottingham court who wrongly let him go to court when he was trying to fight the case - his mother was dying at the time) they said this was not a good enough reason. if he had been taking his mother to hospital this would have been ok, but the fact that she was dying, and he had the death certificate to prove she died days later this was still not a good enough reason to speed! god help us all.....

If you have been driving less than 3 years (maybe 2) then 6 points and you have to retake your test!!!
    Damn money making speed cameras!

If there are any loopholes that may help you to avoid a fine and points you will find them on there.
