Maria,
Just wanted to say I think you're doing really well and are much stronger than i'd ever manage to be in your position.
So sorry to hear about the new set backs (with CAB and the warning at work). It's not fair that things like this keep happening to you but I think you'll cope and find a way through it as you've already done so much to improve things.
Things will be ok. You've just got to get through this terrible rough patch. Try not to lose hope and keep slogging away.
Take care and good luck with everything0 -
Surely work will understand that you're under a lot of pressure- it's not surprising if you make the odd mistake. Sorry the CAB were pants - i guess it depends on which one you are near and who you speak to
Fingers crossed it sounds as though things are progressing (albeit very slowly) - hopefully your husband will wake up and realise what's going on.
Have you tried one of the debt charities suggested - they are meant to be helpful and you have loads of support on here.
When you go to court don't be scared - explain the situation to them (if you get the chance). It's fairly obvious to me that you are doing the best for your family and they can't take what you haven't got to pay the bills.
You have more than lots of peole - you have courage, self belief, determination, loads of suport on here, a fantastic daughter etc.

Hi,
I amsat reading your story and crying as I too am in a desperate situation. Been on Debt Plan for 2 years with CCCS and can see no way out it will take me and my hubby 40 yrs at this rate to be debt free. Tried to set up IVA with Debt Free and initially told it will be similar payments to what I paid to CCCS but finished with in 5 years. I have put all my effort and energy over past few weeks to get this sorted and had my telephone interview with them this monring to be told, My payment will be more than double that of CCCs due to amount of debt and a mininimum of 25 % payback to all creditors over 5 years. I feel deflated, worried, stressed. I feel I can't keep these creditors from caling or knocking any more and time is getting on for me and running out. On top of all this I was paying out £263 per month for a car and sent it back when options expired last month and my mum got finance on a new runaround as needed for work and school runs and she wanted peace of mind it would last the 5 yrs of IVA and trouble free motoring as we could not afford to be paying out for repairs etc, and Debt free have advised as in her name although we will be paying her this cannot be counted in.......what am I to do, next step is Bankruptcy................0 -
I have been reading this thread since it started but haven't posted as I have no advice apart from what has already been posted but I just had to post today to just show my support along with everyone else, I wish you all the strength and luck in the world to get you through this!:grouphug:
To everybody on here, you are truly an inspiration, the support and kindness that has been shown to Maria is fantastic! You should all be proud of yourselves! :TKate

Hi Maria
Hope everything was okay at work today. Just wanted to let you know that there are people on this site who care what happens to you.It probably feels that the whole world is against you at the moment but you are a strong person, you wouldn't have managed as you have up to now otherwise. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, hubby is starting work, and even though you didn't get the help you desperately needed at the CAB yesterday it is not the end of the line. You do have good things in your life - your daughter being the main one,and things will eventually get better.
Have you been on the Payplan site and had a good read of the various options open to you? There is also information on there about bankruptcy but it does mention that the armed forces may have issues about employing bankrupts (thinking of hubby's plans). You need help and breathing space or you are going to burn yourself out physically and emotionally.
Don't give up hope.
