Just finished reading all the posts... you have been through the mill a bit lately.

Sounds like you need to kick your hubby into touch to me (sorry if I'm being harsh), my suggestions are:

    1. Do you have a joint account - if yes, try opening an account in just your name and have all your wages paid into that in the future. At least your hubby won't be able to steal your hard earned money.

    2. Contact all the people that you alone have debts with and try and work out some sort of payment plan and give them your new bank details - s0d hubby's debts

    3. If possible, have all your mail redirected to your work address, or open a PO address, this way, your hubby can't chuck away all the letters you get.

    4. If you are strong enough, look for somewhere else to live - someone posted a link of some womens aid place in Wales that should be able to help you find somewhere.

I do believe that you can sort this out, you are strong enough to make the break from your hubby, he's not supporting you as he should - even if he can't financially, he should at least make an effort emotionally.

I am sorry to hear about your FIL, I am, however, concerned that your hubby is going to use this to as an excuse to continue his bad behaviour and somehow blame you for what has happened.... just to get the message across EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED (DEBT, FIL'S ILLNESS ETC) IS NOT YOUR FAULT.

I hope you have the courage to leave him, you will be able to claim all sorts of benefits which will free up valuable cash to tackle the debts.

Your situation certainly puts mine into perspective, I am so lucky that my OH is very supportive and we are sorting out our finances together.

Good luck hun, as everyone else has said, you are not alone.

  • Hi Maria, I'm new on here, have just been reading through your posts and wanted to see if I could help - I have 2 navy blue next cardigans and 2 pairs of age 5 navy next school trousers with adjustable waistbands. I would be happy to post them to you (free obviously). I was going to try and sell them on eBay but this is a very worthy cause. Let me know if this is any help. ((hugs)) Anna

My o my, it just keeps coming doesn't it?

I would like to reiterate what previous post said, don't let your OH blackmail you into anything over this. If we have his personality right he will be using FIL illness to continue to do nothing and blackmail you into 'helping' him cope by continuing to support him, his alcohol and cigarettes.

Saying that I am sorry to hear about FIL, especially after that conversation you had with him.

Stay strong Maria, you are doing so well. :A

    Hugs

Do you mean free school meals? Judging by your address I think you're in Rhondda Cynon Taff. See the Council's website and go to education and Learning, Schools & Colleges. They say:

Free school meals are offered to children of families who are in receipt of Income Support or Income based Job Seekers Allowance, support under part V1 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, Child Tax Credits or Guarantee element of State Pension Credit.

Children who receive IS or IBJSA in their own right are also entitled to receive free school meals.

If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or with a total yearly income in excess of £14,155 you are not entitled to free school meals
