Oh I love Betty's tea rooms! We went to the one in York when my niece was a toddler, and had a fantastic time... and your walk yesterday sounds absolutely wonderful, tho I'm really envious that after a walk like that you have the energy to fill 5 binbags!

"Hope your kitchen gets sorted soon, it's really frustrating not being able to eat properly, although think how fab it'll feel when you can finally cook! Will you be having free standing units? I visited someone in a tiny little cottage once who had a little green shelving unit in the corner with all her tins, packets, jars etc on - it actually looked really nice"
I did a fair bit more on it yesterday in the end, in spite of watching that dratted dvd - two coats of paint on the main wall, tho I haven't reached any of the crevices or edges yet really. There were 2 boxes of kitchen non-essentials sitting in the imddle of the floor, so I put them into a pantry type affair, and I'll deal with them later. Also washed out my glass storage jars that helped during the move :D so they're finishing drying at the mo. And *that* cleared the space where I intend to put the food prep area :j so I anti-bacteria'd that and left it to dry thoroughly. The place looks a million times better, I must say, tho one of the lights in the central light fitting has gone, so I must do that *today*. And I've decluttered half a dozen mugs ready for the charity shop - still have almost 20, I'm not exactly selling myself short :rotfl:Not sure about how I'm going to get more storage in there, the one wall is free, but the table will need to go there.

**puts thinking hat aside for tomorrow, when Wol visits**

  • well done karma kat on the decluttering xx

Hey daffs, how was your afternoon tea??

Well done on the decluttering karmacat, I'm trying to do much the same, although I've just abandoned mine, mid sort, so my spare room currently looks like a disaster zone!!!

Thanks folks! My whole house is sort of like that at the moment, missymoo, I moved on 18th August, a considerable downsize, and a chunk of building work waiting to be done and no time appointed yet to do it. So its a mess. My bedroom isn't bad, nor is the room where I work, the bathroom is sort of okay (just needs a bit of love for the unfinished DIY stuff), and my energy seems to be going on the kitchen next. It makes a big difference, tho I'm not doing any painting today because hopefully Wol is going to be here, and we'll eat in there.

Ooh, how exciting having Wol to visit KC! :j At least your house is getting sorted slowly! :T

Afternoon tea was just gorgeous, although even I couldn't drink all the tea that came with it! :rotfl: Had a lovely almond and hazelnut meringue thing :T And at 6pm a lady started playing the piano! :rotfl: Lovely, and boss paid for it all :D Won't be going in there myself in a hurry though - my tea and cake would have set me back over £8

All good here :D Sun's shining, apple and bramble jam bubbling away on the stove, banana and yogurt pancakes for breakfast :T Walls are painted, curtains sewn and rehung them last night :T Mr Daffs squirted all the window frames with wood preserver too, and shifted a load of boxes he's been meaning to sort from the living room, so we've got a lovely tidy room at the minute! :T Starting to look out for something to line the other curtains in there with now, and the next project is to get the front door open!

First of all though, I'm off for a quick cuppa with a friend, then into town to do a couple of errands, and pop to the library, then Mr Daffs and one of his bands are singing in the cathedral in town, so a nice peaceful hour or so sitting there is in order I think! :T Then an afternoon of PhD, a bit of gardening, and booze club this evening :j

A lovely day I think!! Hope you're all in for a good one too :D

    Back a bit later xxx
  • Ah you've got the sun - greyand wet here - yay for you - bah for me - great you've a tidy room :)

Hope you have fun today - tea sounds fun!

Hope the snoring wasn't too bad last night - ?
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Just wanted to de-lurk Cheery to say thank you for your fab post on Hypno's diary - certainly made sense for me at the mo :)

You have also inspired me regarding your own make do and mend ethos and I am currently fashioning a pin out of the two fastenings I snipped off my cardigan yesterday - normally they would have just gone straight in the bin but they are such a lovely colour that I couldn't resist a faff ........ so err thank you again x

Ah, thanks saorsie, I'm blushing now! :o :rotfl:Don't slope off back to lurkdom so soon, sit down and have a cuppa! :coffee:

Just popped in for a mini update, more for myself than anything else! Had a cuppa with my friend, who was SO tired, and whose two year old just never sits still, and is so full of mischief, but so full of joy, that you just can't help smiling with him, whatever he's up to. Today he'd found his passport, which has a picture of him in it, and he just kept holding it up to his face and beaming like he was so proud of himself. An absolute joy to be in his company today! (perhaps for me, although for his extremely tired mother I'm not sure the same could be said!)

Dropped off a parcel for someone in the department (good deed for the day), dropped some books at the library, walked into town, returned book to other library (which had a sale on - got 2 books for 60p!), then popped into the cathedral to see Mr Daffs. Oh, it was so lovely! It's an enormous cathedral, old and echoey, and they have lunchtime 'recitals' a couple of times a week, where anyone can just book and come and sing. It was really lovely and peaceful and relaxing in there (and I was told later I looked like I was in a shampoo advert, as I'd unwittingly sat where sunlight was streaming through the stained glass onto my hair :rotfl:) Walked home again with Mr Daffs, and just mad a couple of lunch time pancakes.

So - an assessment of the day so far. Walked about 5 miles, so won't bother running later too :o Had 2 of my 3 allowed cups of tea :D had a lovely old time - but not done any PhD :o That's not going to get the darn thing written! And I see we've now run out of milk (and cheese, and fruit, and veg, and indeed most other things that pass as food :rotfl:) So a trip to the shops is in order. So, here's the plan:

    now - 4.30: PhD!
    4.30-5: shops
    5-6.30: PhD
    6.30-7: eat and wash up
    7-9 Al anon meeting
9-10: potter, look at goals for next month etc
10 - nice early night with book :T

Does that sound like a plan?? Can get a decent amount of PhD done in just over 2 hours if I put my mind to it... :j
