Wow, cheery - how amazing you are! Sounds like a glorious walk, and all of that DIY and domesticity too. See, LT, it doesn't have to be fast living that appeals :) I miss cooking a little bit, I confess - or rather, I miss the *results* of cooking - the kitchen here is still a nightmare, all the surfaces full of *stuff*. It won't get sorted soon, but I'm putting the last dishwasher load of the housemoving stuff on this morning, and I'm slowly finding spaces for things - although there's a lot of floor space, there isn't a lot of cupboard space, which is a bit disorienting - but its coming clear. I'm looking forward to being able to actually, you know, chop up a vegetable or so!

    Morning all,

Clogs are indeed a good b word substitute Fay. It seems that it is against the rules to mention/promote/point in the direction as it is deemed as free advertising. I think that some people put adverts and things on theirs so it makes revenue.

Cheery, it sounds like you had a superb day yesterday. PAH to putting on weight, which is why I am steering clear of the shred craze.
Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher
  • Morning all I'm steering clear of shred purely because I'm lazy. Although I need to drop a bit of the weight I'd put on over the last three months - when I was almost constantly sleeping/eating/sleeping!

Morning all - hope PhD goes well cheery

Mr stripes is off being a guitar god this am at a workshop for electric guitar stuff. I'm toddling off to the shower............................I'll chance the scales again, but I know what they'll say!

"one at a time, please!" ?? :rotfl: That's what they usually say when I get on! :rotfl:

Yep, you're right KC, cheery domesticity is cheery too - no need for high adventure! You just have to *believe* what you're doing is an adventure and talk about it as such :D Hope your kitchen gets sorted soon, it's really frustrating not being able to eat properly, although think how fab it'll feel when you can finally cook! Will you be having free standing units? I visited someone in a tiny little cottage once who had a little green shelving unit in the corner with all her tins, packets, jars etc on - it actually looked really nice!

I must say I'm blaming shred - but it's probably more down to the fact that the last few weeks I've only done shred once a week - and in the meantime eaten lots of biscuits :rotfl:

Well, so far today is shaping up to be relatively productive. Breakfast in bed (of course, Sunday morning treat), read some of my book, nice chat to Mr Daffs, found the paint, er, scraped the mould off the top :rotfl: (see, it's all glamorous here!), touched up the walls, put some washing on, tidied the kitchen...

then hung around here nosying over people's garden fences :D

Off out for a walk in a bit, just to the shops with Mr Daffs (he just *has* to go to the shops every day, drives me insane sometimes but I'm settling into the habit of just buying millk, fruit or whatever), then I'll probably carry on down the hill, water friend's plants (this is the ex-partner of the bloke who's staying with us - her dad is very ill so she's staying with family at the mo), then walk back up through the fields :T

Then an afternoon of gardening, phding, more painting, sewing.... :T

Hmm, and must set my mind to those MG challenges too! :T
  • All sounding good there Cheery- it is persisting it down here, but i am itching to get out for a walk or do a bit of gardening..might just don the waterproofs and get out anyway :)

  • Cheery, I've just done Shred level 2

It is tougher but if you stick with Anita then it's not so bad & it does give you a different workout. I am now truly dead eating strawberries to recover! :rotfl:

Well done Honeybear! :T :T (Although I read that two quickly and thought you were eating dead strawberries ) I'm sticking with anita all the way ;) I must say I like the variety, and if I ever (WHEN) get to the end of my 10 days at level 3 (6 more to go!), then I might just alternate the three levels :) Trying to get slowly back into running now though -I like shred (goodness, did I just say that??? :rotfl:) but I'd like to do it in between running, not instead of it :)

BoB, did you get the waterproofs on and go out? I did! :D I've been out most of the afternoon, and I must say I've had a marvellous time :T Walked for nearly 2 hours in the windy blustery drizzle, clouds scudding across the sky, went through an old, old cemetery I've never been in before, went far further down the hill than I intended (meaning I also had to come back UP it again...), through the woods, picked some blackberries :T and altogether had a lovely time. Got back exhausted and a bit damp, and decided that before I got changed I'd go out in the garden :T So I've filled 5 bin bags with more of the tree we cut down, and it's nearly all gone now! :T

Also had a bit of a willow-related inspiration for our new seating area - must ask Fay :T

Now I'v eaten, wandered through the diaries a bit, and am enconced upstairs ready for a couple of hours of phd :T

Mate is upstairs doing musical things - we've managed to fix his computer so he doesn't keep borrowing mine (shock horror - sharing a laptop!!). Mr Daffs is downstairs doing musical things, and I'm in the bedroom in the middle, so I've got a nice gentle mix of both :rotfl: Had to move slightly away from my new desk space to make room for the new bed. But it's fine, I'm sat on the rocking chair with the laptop on an old card table, looking out of the window, so I'm happy :T

Ooh, and the new bed seems to have worked! :T Mr Daffs is well rested today and very cheery indeed :T And it was a right old adventure, we pretended we were camping/at a sleepover party, sleeping on the floor in our own bedroom :rotfl: We've also pinned up some bunting over the bed so it feels like we're settled there for a while :rotfl: So fingers crossed....

Oh, and money wise, checked bank yesterday, slightly shocked until I remembered i accidentally gave Mr Daffs £50 more than I should have done at the beginning of the month :o So that means I've only got £20 for each of the next 2 weeks for food and fun. But then I got an email from Amazon telling me my payment is on the way (I"d forgotten I hadn't had it!) so that's £48 to last to the end of the month, which seems far more reasonable!

(I suppose if I need to I can pinch it from the emergency fund and just give Mr Daffs a bit less in October, but I'd like to avoid that if possible, especially since I'm planning on paying him off altogether as soon as I get paid! :T)

And now - I'm off for a couple of hours of PhDing :T

Hey daffs, I do love the cheeryness of your diary, always makes me smile.

I really need to take a leaf out of your book with knitting and sewing things, my MIL gifted me some knitting needles and wool, and I have lots of material and even a sewing machine, not that I know how it works!!! I like your home made presents idea too.

Sounds like you had a lovely walk yesterday, I love walking especially when its all windy and cold, and the wind whips round your face.... lovely!

Glad Mr Daffs is sleeping better, there's nothing worse than grumpy tired men, and love the whole camping sleepover thing, really made me laugh, that's exactly what me and OH are like, make a big adventure out of everything!!

    Have a good day hun

Morning MissyMoo (and everyone sensible enough to still be in bed at this silly hour!)

Yes, get yourself wrapped round that sewing machine! I love mine, although I also love hand sewing - I can't get at my machine right now as it's in the attic with mate who's staying, so I'm hand sewing the living room curtains, and enjoying it very much!

Sadly, snoring was louder than ever last night, and poor Mr Daffs had to come and sleep on the sofa... :( Tried ear plugs, tried a little machine thing that makes soothing noises, but you could even hear it over that :( Fortunately I'm at work all day, so he'll have a chance to catch up on some sleep. But tonight we're going to sit down and have a think about all the things we could do about it (ranging from sleeping in the living room, sewing golf balls into mate's pjs, asking him to leave... :() Would rather not do anything drastic, but at the same time, this is our house, and if Mr Daffs doesn't get any sleep, it's going to make life mightily unpleasant for everyone :(

Ah well. Got up 5 minutes later than usual this morning, and instead of hurtling down hill to station and eating breakfast on the train, I've decided to catch the later train :D A great decision - I did actually have nearly 8 hours sleep anyway, so I'm not too tired, I get a nice leisurely breakfast and a bit of popping round forums time, and I can have a nice bike ride rather than a dodging the traffic insane one :D Means I get an extra 40 minutes at this end, and will only be 20 minutes later at work (the train is faster). I'm off on a course later this week and will end up not claiming the travelling time back, so it'll all work out in the end :T

Cheery day in store today, although a busy one! Squeezing in a quick lunch with a friend, and we're off out on an all expenses paid trip to Betty's tea rooms this afternoon, hooray! :T :T :T
