That is such a good idea! And it's true, when I rearranged my living room I took photos to send to the boyfriend and whenever I happen across them on my phone they make me smile even though my house is usually an upturned mess covered in crumbs and toys and washing and more recently chicken poop walked into the carpet even though this is a no shoes house! I might go and have an explore in the garden with my camera tomorrow - looking at tiny things is a great idea. I tend to see the gaps and the chick chicks are having a fine old time with my lawn at the moment. I would like to do some wild planting, loads of cottagey, meadowy seeds to give height and colour. I get so overwhelmed by choice though! That and I'm not a very expert moneysaver when it comes to garden centres. I have been doing a lot of seed banking and sharing but mostly for veg. Evening all,
Ruby, hope you got out and took some photos of your flowers! :j For me, pictures of cheery things are FAR more likely to inspire me to action than looking at all the mess!
I've had an absolutely lovely day, but need to get down to some action myself this evening. Went to the dentist this morning, bleurgh, not at all exciting, and I came out with a new filling, but a bleeding mouth from where he'd poked it with some pokey stick thing :eek: Couldn't feel it running down my numb faceThen got the bus to Bakewell and had an absolutely gorgeous day catching up with a couple of friends, drinking tea, sitting by the river, visiting the flour mill... :T
However - I managed to spend £14 :eek: :eek: £4.20 on the bus, £3.05 on the first lot of tea with toast (lunch), £3.85 on the second lot of tea with an enormous piece of lemon cake :eek: and then £3.35 on 2 bags of organic flour from the mill (Which I didn't need, and actually could have bought closer to home) Penance on the way home was waiting for the 50p bus from town rather than paying £1 :rotfl:
Home now, and we're nearly out of milk, and the kitchen etc is a bit of a tipBut I've got the evening to myself :T Sounds like poor old Mr Daffs spent the morning chatting to a very good friend of ours who's having a bit of a tough time at the minute, and is in imminent danger of leaving his partner
All very sad (although not entirely unexpected). On a practical level, it's left me with no milk and a messy kitchen (not that that really matters given the circumstances) and I'm preparing for the prospect that he might land up stopping here for a while if he needs to move out.
Anyway, so I've got the evening to myself, and since tomorrow and Friday NEED to be full on PhD days, I need tonight to get myself sorted out a bit. So I'm in need of a bit of a list...0 -
Right, here goes!
* ring friends re what time to go round for dinner tomorrow (very important!)
* ring friend re staying at her house in London next week (also very important)
* ring friend re meeting her for tea in London next week (er, also very important)
* transfer dentist money from emergency fund - £29.10
* transfer van fixing money from van fixing fund to Mr Daffs - £90
* set up van spreadsheet
* send Amazon dispatch email
* add Amazon money to spreadsheet
* check bank and update signature
* check budget - shouldn't have spent £14 today so need a bit of rejigging
* shred day 23 (I think, or is it 24??)
* walk to shop for milk
* tidy kitchen
* put washing on
* hang washing up
* put bread on
Er, I think that's it, looks like a lot! :eek: But in reality I think quite a few of those jobs are little 5 mins at the computer ones, and I can make a phone call or two while I'm walking to the shops - multi tasking hey??Best crack on though - should probably do bread first, it's still not going to be ready til 11.30 but that's alright, then washing, or I'll be too tired to be bothered hanging it up and it'll go all smelly :rotfl:

Phew! Mum rang up and was on the phone for an hour, so now it's getting a bit late to ring people with small babies and poorly husbands, so the phone calls will have to wait til tomorrow! Did manage to do lots of other things while she was talking though

Had a look at the budget - shouldn't have spent £14 today, but sold an Amazon CD for £9.50 at the weekend, and I'm not actually travelling to work next week because I'm off to London (which work is paying for), so that'll be another budgeted for that I won't need to spend :T So actually today's extravagances weren't too much of a crisis :T Will save the other £20 for next week because I'm actually going to London a day earlier than I need to (in my own time, but work paying for the train), and meeting a friend for coffee, so I'll need to pay for that at least.
Pania, oh dear, reading all my waffling!:rotfl: I'm actually in Sheffield, so just up the road from Chesterfield. Is that near where your friend lived? It is gorgeous round here! :j
As for making money, well, you'll embarrass me with your compliments!:rotfl: I've never sold anything, I have made all my presents for the last year though! :T I've kind of considered selling stuff, but to be honest I need a bit more practice I think before anyone would buy anything!
And at the minute, I NEED to get the PhD out of the way before even considering anything else, so it's on the list for after Christmas. In the meantime, I'll keep plodding on, make as many Christmas presents as I can again this year, build up my stash of stuff, and then next year I'll see!
MUST pop out for milk before I get so tired I can't be bothered and then I'll be left with NO TEA!!! :eek: :eek: Also remembered Mr Daffs wanted me to 'rescue' a bit of carpet from a skip down the road, so much as I hate doing it, I'll do that on the way back
Back in a bit to finish the rest of the list off (what's left, just kitchen and shred that I can do tonight I think! And the washing when it's finished...) Might even be some reduced fruit if I'm lucky! :j :j0
