Hi Daffy
Just finished nosying through your diary.
I must say I brought a car 13th December 2008, It broke down on the 23rdRAC were brilliant, there within 30 minutes, the garage left much to be desired
Not my favourite Xmas Eve spent in their cold office (heating had broke) making small talk with their receptionist who was hung over while they "fixed my car" Did I mention it broke down again at least 2ce a month for a further year until parts of the engine just fell out?
Hope you have a lovely weekend xxSlimming World: 1stone 11lbs lost in 11 weeks0 -
Oh dear KarleyMarie!!
What a fiasco for you!
WI done and dustedUpstairs about to start some w*rk now, but keep idly thinking about a pair of shoes I saw in Oxfam this morning for £4 and wondering whether to go back and get them... Nicely smart but flat and comfy, and will do nicely for work in the autumn...
Think I'll stick the CD on and do 40 mins of PhD first, and then pop back down there, how's that for a compromise?? :rotfl:0 -
What a night Cheery, you must have been frantic. As for car PAH I say. I am sure that once the alternator is sorted it will be fine. Now these shoes.......... did you go back? I always do things like that but I have this theory, if I dont get them right away and then go back later, if they are still there then they were meant for me, if not, I have saved the money and put it into the pig towards something really nice later. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

I did go back for the shoes actually cherisong, and they *were* still there
I wandered round the shop in them for a bit, then bought them
Going to try to re-cover the little button things on them later to make them a little bit less brown :T
Think I'm rather over tired and in need of a napCurrently sat here in tears
(did have the foresight to get a cup of tea though! :rotfl:) Mr Daffs was trying to be cheery and sort me out pride and prejudice to watch tonight :T but it won't play on my computer. I told him it didn't matter, he was trying to get ready to go out, but he seems to see 'it doesn't matter, we'll do it when there's more time' as both a challenge and an insult  So the rest of the band ended up carrying all the gear out (getting increasingly grumpy because someone was waiting to go past them in the road), Mr Daffs was faffing about with the computer, I was (probably unhelpfully) telling him to stop it and go instead, then one of the other band people threw the lid off the kitchen bin out of the way in a frustrated temper (bl**dy drama queen musicians!), Mr Daffs was finally ready but someone had left a speaker in the way of the door, so other things got thrown, and they all stomped off, and I burst into tears!
Honestly, I KNOW by now that I just need to keep out of the way when he's trying to go out, I know he's rubbish at being ready on time, I know *some* of the others are grumpy tw*ts (did I say that, sorry! :rotfl:) but somehow I always find myself in the kitchen being asked to do things, fetch things, move things, and then being told off for asking 'which of these identical guitar stands do you want?'
Bleurgh!
Ah well, feel better for just ranting about all that, hope you didn't all get to the end of it! :rotfl:
Still, got the rest of the night to myself now :j :j :j Sadly I still haven't finished stupid PhD chapter but as soon as I get a grip and stop crying I'll start that again, do an hour and a half, and then stop whatever state it's in.
Then I'm planning on a bit of tidying, a bit of a satisfying mini-decluttering of the kitchen table, and then I'll curl up with a plate of jammy pancakes and Pride and Prejudice and everything will be alright again.
Goodness, I'm USELESS at being tired, I'd make SUCH a rubbish parent! :rotfl:0 -

I'm sure you're not a rubbish parent at all beanielou! <stern look> I'm sure you're fabulous :T I'm in awe of anyone who can manage it. I only thought of it because I've spent some time with a friend today who's been completely worn out for weeks, and the way I've felt today I just don't know how I would have coped with having to look after small children too! Hats off to you for even being brave enough to try! :T
PhD done (well, not the whole of it! :rotfl: just all I'm going to do for tonight). Have also customised by not-very-inspiring new shoes! They're brown with little brown buttons on - a bit of elastic, a bit of cheery fabric, and suddenly one button is white with pink flowers, the other shoe's button is bright blue with little sparkly bits! :rotfl: They'll probably stay the same, I'm just experimenting - a cheerily mindless project for a tired evening in! :rotfl:
also sorted out Pride and Prejudice, so I can drink tea, watch daft costume drama, and change the colour of the buttons on my shoes til my heart's content :rotfl: What a fabulously rock and roll MSE Saturday night in! :rotfl: :T
(oh, mustn't forget Day 22 of Shred either!!)
And Mr Daffs just rang to apologise, remind me he's not grumpy all the timeand tell me how fab the place they're playing is - there's a kitchen bigger than the whole downstairs of our house, with a big kitchen table (my dream), and CHICKENS! how lovely :T
(see, I never stay grumpy for long! :rotfl:)0 -
Awww glad you are cheery again
