I hope you're having a great time here.

I was at South Bank Centre today and from one of the rooms could see the London eye - maybe you were in it then!!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Well, I'm back in one piece! Had a marvellous time, although blithering exhausting :rotfl: far too much walking :rotfl:

We were on the eye on Thursday afternoon makeup! :T

NorthernLas - We often make pancakes without the eggs anyway, just flour and milk. At the minute we're just using flour, water and a little salt and sugar - more like flatbreads i suppose but who cares :rotfl: Still pancakes to me :D

Right - off the internet and into the sunshine I say! :j :j

Evening! Gosh, I'm not doing very well keeping this diary up to date these days am I?! It's all this working for a living - I'm rapidly realising how much I DIDN'T work full time on my PhD :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Up and down day today. Bit of an arduous meeting first thing, we've got a deadline this week so busy busy, and new boss isn't half getting her knickers in a twist (her words, not mine!). But everything got done, and it's ended up being me that's going to submit everything formally - which is fine, because I quite like being in control, it's pretty satisfying :rotfl:

Then I had a supervision meeting and boss told me I was "efficient, reliable, relaxed, and brilliant" :D :rotfl: So I was rather impressed with myself :rotfl: Also got asked to write part of a book chapter! Never done anything like that before, and to be honest I thought it was just a blanket email gone out to loads of people ("I know something of your work..." - I laughed, thinking 'you obviously don't know that much lad, I've not DONE that much :rotfl:) - but boss knows the bloke, and has suggested I say yes! So, an exciting challenge there :T Think I can retire off the royalties?! Given I'm writing a twelfth of a chapter in a book with 35 chapters, I'd say it's unlikely :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Overall at the minute, I'm feeling pretty good and well rested :j :j Woken up without the alarm at 6.20 for the past few days, so plenty of times in the morning - goodness me, I LOVE having enough sleep :T :T

Oh yes, money wise :rotfl: that's why we're here after all... :rotfl: Bank balance looking pretty healthy this month! :j :j There's only £2 in the holiday fund after the London trip, but I've not spent any of this month's treats money in the bank (£50), and I got an unexpected £2.40 from Quidco today :rotfl: However, the exhaust has fallen off the darn car, so the car maintenance fund will be sorely depleted as of tomorrow morning I suspect...

So - I'm here on my own tonight. Only been in an hour or so, train delayed because we nearly hit someone :( and driver was so traumatised we had to wait nearly an hour for a replacement before we could carry on. All rather sad, apparently the transport police arrested a young woman, and I hope to goodness for her sake that she was messing around (and has now learned her lesson) rather than trying to kill herself :(

Home now, and I'm doing NOTHING tonight other than eating a nice pancake with dark chocolate, and sitting in front of some rubbish tv :D Working at home for 3 days now, and after the dashing up and down the country of last week, and the busyness of the last two days, I'm really looking forward to it! :j :j

Cheery - If funds allow and you are not doing anything, I am attempting to rustle up an ad-hoc Northern Meet up on Saturday ... you could get the train and have a little canal walk ... I could supply hopi candles if your ears are still poorly and Pickle, Dedicated and FW may be coming to play as well :)

Ooh NL, how exciting! Where are you going to be - I've got to be somewhere part of the day, and somewhere else in the evening, but depending where you are I might be able to sneak over for a bit :D (nowt wrong with my ears though, you must be confusing that bit with someone else!) :D

Car to garage this morning, blithering exhaust fell of! At least my poor old van had SOME redeeming features and character - this darn thing boring and functional, not fun at all, and is turning out to be just as unreliable as the last one! Pah!

Still, working at home, so can sneak out to meet friend for a quick cuppa late on this afternoon :j :j

Cheery - sorry, I am working on an intermittent brain cell at present ... someone on here was complaining of terrible ear ache (I did wonder if I was being a div as you have bin off jollying in the smoke an' all)

We will be in't peak district and I know that the Sheffield line goes somewhere close ... I am doing my shift at the charity shop and I have invited the others for a bit of shopping and cake eating.

I am working 9 while 1, but they will need to shop before that and have tea in the second hand book shop or coffee morning. After 1, I can join them at the non-charity cafe for lunch and/or we can have a jaunt to sunny Buxton, should there be enough space in my vehicule :) (all just ideas at present since I have not had confirmed attendance from anyone)

If you can come you can see where I weave my computer magic with my silver surfers :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Oh dear Cheery, NL has given you my ears! Not something you want to be in possession of at the moment  :rotfl:

You sound very energetic at the moment despite still adjusting to full time work. Fab news on the book chapter, that's very impressive :)
