*pulls up hopefully with plate and sugar and lemon whilst looking hopefully at all the dreamy fillings Cheery has previously mentioned*
Love pancakes :T
I used to be vegetarian for years and though I didn't advertise the fact it became apparent when going for meals etc. and yep some of the responses were totally unexpected. Have been considering going veggie again actually - will ponder on it some more.

Happy pancake day! It seemed appropriate to make my first diary post on your Cheery thread on this auspicious day. Thanks to you, I’ve rediscovered the delights of pancakes on any and every occasion.
I’ve belatedly cheered you through your Phd (I did my first degree when I was older than you are now), and nodded sagely at your various adventures – when I wasn’t chuckling.
You are the first other person I have ‘met’ who had their tonsils grow again. My step daughter calls things like that ‘proxy genes’.
BTW, I live in ‘God’s Own Country’ as well. We are so blessed by the countryside on our doorstep!
Technically speaking, I’m a precautionary DFW. I have no debts but have the problem of living on savings and the current interest rates and inflation, mean that my conservative estimates of income are sadly lacking. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Nice to meet you Tricia! Glad you've discovered the delights of the 'Every Day is Pancake Day' attitude :j :j :j
We have indeed got a fabulous amount of countryside on the doorstep :j I should really make more use of it!
Up early this morning, lots of work to do, then I'm off to Manchester at lunchtime.
Rather worryingly, had an email yesterday from PhD examiner (was chasing him to see where the process was - still haven't had the official forms) and he said the external had signed and sent his forms, and the only comment he (the external) had was that I should tidy up the references in the 'final version'.
Er... what 'final version'?? That WAS the final version! He's officially meant to be reading and commenting, but unofficially all the way through I'd been told the external wasn't going to read it at all, and the internal had already said it was fine, so this was just meant to be a formality. If he's ticked the 'minor corrections' box (which means I get ANOTHER 3 months, have several more days of work to do and have to print and bind AGAIN (just one copy this time) without understanding what it means, then I shan't be impressed AT ALL. Even though I realise in the long run it doesn't matter.
So - I'm not going to get cross now, I'm going to wait and see what the form says. And if it doesn't just say 'yes, everything's fine' then I shall be having serious words with the internal and demanding that all examiners in the department are given training on exactly what their job is!
Anyway, enough of that, I just thought I'd left it all behind! Let's hope it's all fine, and that means I should be officially signed off in a few days :j :j
Best get working then <yawn>0 -
oh no cheery how rubbish, stupid examiners, you'd think they would be able to get it right!! I do hope you get it sorted soon, and that you get it back soon with a great big smiley yes well done!!! How is the veganism going? It is day 2 for me today but I am struggling with what to have for dinner?! Right am in the middle of an assignment with another one due tomorrow so I really should get on and do it!
Speak soon

yawn - long day here!
Missy - plenty of lovely vegan recipes out there - if you've not done it before or aren't familiar with it, don't be too hard on yourself, it takes a fair bit of planning! We mostly eat vegan meals here anyway, so not at all difficult (it's just the chocolate and cakes that gets me :rotfl: :rotfl:)
Meant to be packing for london in the morning, but not long got back from Manchester, and I'm tired and rather chilly, so snuggled up on the sofa with a hot water bottle insteadNot leaving til 10.30 tomorrow - that's plenty of time, right?! :rotfl:

yeah course it is, I need to plan a whole essay and read 5 chapters of my degree book before I go to work at 7.30 tomorrow!! I'm sure packing will be fine, actually thinking about it, want to swap??:D0

More than enough time there Cheery, you should be becoming an expert by now!
Sounds like that examiner needs a kick up the bahoozy for not even thinking about how throw away comments (let alone down right incompetence) can cause so much stress. Hope that it gets ticked off forthwith (or I wouldnt want to be that examiner if you turn up in your yellow wellies)
Veganism is hard if not organised I think. I have some lovely recipes too and enjoy looking up more. Glad that the headache went. I definitely think it was withdrawal, especially as you drink so much. Have you tried green tea (which is allowed on detox) it is divine. I also like redbush and several others that I havent thought of for a long time so off to check them out in the health food shop soon. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
I only tried green tea once and hated it! But I've made myself get into herbal tea a lot more lately, so perhaps it's the time to try again
Just whipping up a few vegan pancakes for breakfast :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Not entirely sure that was the idea! :rotfl:
I'm not packed yet, but I'm showered and dressed and have cleaned the kitchen and have a list and a pile of stuff to go in a bagSounds pretty good to me, and I've still got another couple of hours!
Had a little treat yesterday - went and spent that £30 body shop voucher for £12. Gosh it was difficult!! Good job I had a time limit or I might have been in there for hours! When you haven't had any money for ages, you get in a mindset of 'no, I don't need that, or that', and then when you have some money to spend (that in this case I had to spend in a specific shop), it's really difficult :rotfl: Still, I managed it
Got a bottle of body lotion, some spray stuff, face mask, exfoliator stuff, dry skin foot stuff, deodorant, and some cleanser - not a bad haul! :T :T
So - London this morning, not hugely MSE (especially not since I've paid for it all :rotfl:) but I've not done too badly.
£112 for the youth hostel for 2 of us for 2 nights (cheapest I could find in London, not in a dormitory) - it's right in the centre so should be fine without too much tube
£46 for BOTH of us return on the train - a fine bargain! (we're going from different places)
£26 for 2 oyster cards (probably won't use these too much, but I can keep and use for work
£18.50 for both of us on London Eye (I've got a 2 for 1 voucher)
Er, that's it I think! Not going to add it up - I don't want to know how much it isMum's taking sachets of porridge for breakfast :rotfl: and tea bags :rotfl: I'll take peanut butter so we only have to buy bread for breakfasts. So we'll just need dinner and tea! Very exciting (not as excited as my mum though :rotfl:)
