Yes, thanks for the offer, not sure which one of us it was for either!
However, I'm actually fitting an external door, not an internal (it's just that the existing one is an internal one when it shouldn't be because it's outside :rotfl:) so Dedicated, if you can make use of it, go ahead! :T :T Sorry you've been poorly
Well, I have had THE most spiffing dayAbsolutely gorgeous. Lovely and sunny for our stomp around the woods, and met up with a friend too. Came home, made some cous cous for work tomorrow, and some flapjacky stuff for new on-train breakfast experiment
Just sorting out photos now :j :j
Starting my online workshop thing tomorrow, don't think I ever said what it was. It's a 30 day vegan workshop being run by a cheery lady who writes a beautifully calming blog. It's not a 'how to be a vegan' workshop - I was vegan myself for 7 years and don't need instructions! For me, it's more of an excuse to jolt myself back into stocking up food (rather than ambling to the Co-op every day), cooking of an evening (rather than eating either porridge or pancakes every night), and preparing lunch in advance (rather than popping over to the shop at work and inevitably coming back with a load of rubbish). I don't eat meat anyway, and I eat FAR too much dairy, and it'll also stop me grabbing a chocolate bar (or two) on the train on the way home
(I've been a bit wary of sharing about it as, having long experience of being vegan, I remember only too well how other people often seem to take it as a personal insult to themselves and I'm reluctant to put myself back in that position again! But I'm sure you're all too nice so I'll risk it)
Anyway, moving on to more cheery things - planted lots of seeds today :j :j poppies and lavender and squash and beetroot and lettuce and peas and sweet peas and coriander :j :j Hope Pippi's not reading this or she'll probably tell me off for planting everything too early/too late/all in one go/all in the same compost :rotfl: :rotfl:
I've had an utterly FABULOUS weekend :j :j Feel all rosy cheeked and ready for anything (mostly bath and a bed :rotfl: :rotfl:)0 -
Sounds like you HAVE had an utterly fabulous weekend Cheery. I am so pleased that you have found your life again. Thank you for the link to the vegan lady blog. I too was vegan (for a very short time). I used to be a carnivore and longed to be a vegetarian but struggled with it. Then one day I decided that the only way to go was to cut out all dairy products. Truthfully it was part of a detox diet as I was quite poorly and willing to give anything a go at that point. I didnt stick to the vegan diet but I do (every now and then) head back to it when I feel sluggish. I completely understand your reluctance to share, people thought I was a bit "odd" when I said that I didnt eat any dairy products. Add to that wheat products and I wont begin to explain how they made me feel.
Enjoy the rest of the evening, hope your bath is truly extravagant. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
vegan workshop sounds fab. I know what you mean about the haters though, really surprises me how many people are so anti-veggie or vegan. (although it does annoy me when veggies go on cooking blogs and comment on a story about a roast dinner or something meaty).
I don't really care what other people eat although hats to vegans with the organisation involved. I'm way to lazy to eat vegan although I almost managed it (inadvertantly) when I was in Nepal on the trek. We were 'banned' from eating cheese, eggs & meat. So we mostly had veggie noodles, veggie dumplings, fried rice with veg and dhal bhatt. We did have porridge though which was made with some kind of milk and no doubt a few non-vegan things slipped in here and there (chocolate for one!!!)
I do love meat but I try to buy happy meat (comes from an organic farm in Devon) and I do quite often eat veggie. Half my colleagues think I'm veggie from all the lentil soups I make!!!
I'm confused though, I thought you were going to do a photography or journalism course for blogging or have I totally made that up???I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Sounds like a great weekend, Cheery - all the more reason to be cheerier than usual! Please call me 'Pickle'
No More Buying Books: ???

Proud to be dealing with her debts 1198~

The door offers were for both Cheery and Dedicated - or whoever can use spare doors
... I seem to have lost my brain-mouth filter (and also got confused when Cheery said that hers was an inside door ... I missed the bit about it being an outside gap with an inside door ...) [it is the sun and the fact I am in Florida - not that I'm boasting at all
... right this minute it's dark and there is thunder in the air]
I will check with Mr NL as to whether his inside door would be strong enough as an inside door. I may have to sweeten him up a little as I haven't told him that I am offering his doors to strangers
Cheery, I had the best christmas dinner ever this year and it was completely vegan. I must admit that I was a little sceptical beforehand, but not afterwards!!!
And of course vegan choccies are much more available these days0 -
Cheery - whenever would I tell you off for having a go!! Good for you, workshop sounds interesting too - good for you! Us gardeners are hardly the telling off types
enjoy your little babies when they come up.

Hooray for the seeds! We still have one sprouting pea :rotfl:
Interesting about the vegan diet - I saw a review of this book http://www.amazon.com/Appetite-Reduction-Filling-Low-Fat-Recipes/dp/1600940498 a couple of months ago and think it sounds amazing (and I'm a fairly dedicated carnivore!)
Have a happy Monday xxDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Thanks for being nice you lot
(and thanks to Pippi for not telling me off for my lazy gardening :rotfl: :rotfl:)
Many of my seeds are out of date, and all planted in all purpose compost in old mushroom trays from Netto :rotfl: Let's see how many of them actually grow...
Makeup - you didn't make up the photo/journaling (not journalism!) course - I'm doing that too, starts 20th March:j :j
Busy busy today - quite jealous of colleague's cup of tea :rotfl: herbal tea is fine, I've been getting used to it for a while, but I can see myself caving in for a cup of real tea once in a while :rotfl: Oh dear!(flapjacks were nice though, although more like granola :rotfl:)

Cheery i'm only just putting my seeds in trays at the moment and i always use all purpose compost, often use loo rolls and mushroom trays and have used out of date seeds. My policy is if they want to grow they will make the effort to meet me half way and grow0
-
Quite right LT :T I think I don't want to spend the entire summer cosseting seedlings, so if you can't hold your own out there, then I'll just jolly well grow something else :rotfl: :rotfl:
Headache - bleurgh. Think possibly caffiene withdrawal - not necessary for vegan thing, but by default I'm drinking herbal tea rather than normal tea without milk... Might need to cave in this afternoon though just for a small one - i wasn't intending it to make me feel rotten!0
