you are wonderful daffs, I love the way you stay focused and plan on how you will get things done, I have picked up so many hints from your diary, thank you.0

Aw, thanks Missy
I do hope you haven't got the wrong impression of me from my drivelling!
Sat here and did just over an hour (after a bit of faffing around - I'm not all perfect :rotfl:). Instead of the anticipated 'entire chapter' I have edited, er, 4 pages
:rotfl: So, the production rate needs to increase somewhat, and I'm only going to get more tired from now on! Pah!
So - CD back on for another hour, and by then it'll be nearly 9.30 and I'm rubbish at doing anything intellectual after that (or most o the time before that too, come to think of it :rotfl:). So, after that it'll be half an hour of formatting etc, then quick prep for work tomorrow, then curling up on the sofa with Jeeves and Wooster, which will have me off to sleep in about 5 minutes flat :T :T0 -
I always mean to ask, Cheery, what is your PhD on, or at least, what is your subject area? I feel I want to read it after hearing so much about it!
Please call me 'Pickle'
No More Buying Books: ???
No More Buying DVDs: ???
NMB Toiletries ??? and I've gone back for my Masters at the University of Use Ups!

well done Cheery sounds like you've made real progress on your filming and PhD, won't be long before it's finished and you'll be a lady of leisure.
Pippi, you've got some sneaky little chucks there hiding all those eggies from you, glad you found them before they did something silly.0 -
Nah Pickle, you don't want to read it! :rotfl: In fact, I absolutely forbid you (and anyone else) from reading it. There will only be one copy, which will be locked away in the bowels of the university library, only accessible on special request if someone bizarrely finds a reference to it somewhere (and I will take steps to make sure they don't).
In the future I may write papers related to it, and you can read those, but this is such an abominably shoddy piece of work (and at this point there's not much else I can do about it!) that nobody will be reading it if I can avoid it
Pippi, goodness, would those eggs have been fertilised?! I don't understand chicken mating and mechanics, even after viewing some attempts in the garden
Imagine how many chickens you would have had running about the place!
Well, I haven't got everything done, but I HAVE got to the end of editing chapter 3 :j :j So that's 48,798 words edited and absolutely final now :T :T Chapter 4 coming with me on the train to work in the morning :T
(speaking of which, I absolutely MUST find something to wear (probably what I'm wearing now, I have no shame :rotfl:) and pack bag, and go to sleep! Night all xx0 -
Evening all, that felt like a long day! However, in several ways I triumphed :T :T
* I did a scary presentation and it went well
* I facilitated a group discussion (even though at one point I actually had to stand up to make people stop talking :rotfl:)
* I got a couple of hours of PhD done on the train to/from work - so Chapter 5 edited (just need to finish and add a table), and I've started writing my list of how I've addressed the things they wanted me to address
* My new boss tried to rearrange a meeting for 5pm - I said no and arranged for tomorrow instead (meet at 5pm means I won't get hom until after 8pm - NOT acceptable at the minute!)
* had a lovely bath and am all nicely relaxed and cheery :T :T
Going into the office tomorrow too, all my stuff's ready for the morning, and I'm planning on getting the early train which means leaving home at 6.25am, but means I'll get longer on the train for PhD stuff, and I'll get to the office BEFORE 9am - we've a meeting at 10 that I'd like to be prepared for.
Tomorrow's things-that-might-require-deep-breaths:
* finishing writing thing saying how I've addressed PhD revisions
* meeting at 10am, rather baffled about the whole thing :rotfl:
* meeting new boss at 11.30 to talk through what I've done so far
* MUST ring dentist - I've got an appointment next Friday as part of tooth fell out, but it's starting to hurt now and I'd like to be seen this Friday please!
* must also stop being complete and utter wimp and check emails to see what supervisor said about conclusions chapter - it's probably not half as bad as I'm imagining!
* must also open university emails to stop myself fretting there's something from my examiner
So, tomorrow might require a little bit of turning to face the scary things that I'm feeling chased by <wibble>
Still - working at home on Friday, and it'll be my first full time payday so if I get lots of PHD done in the evening I'll treat myself to an hour of budgeting and online banking :rotfl: :j

Sounds like much is being achieved in the Cheery household there. You are doing really well with the Phd. It seems that you have come a long way since I first started reading and you couldnt face it at all. I am sure that you are proud of yourself but thought I would nudge you to remind yourself that you should be if you are not.
When the phd is finished and the house is like a palace and the garden is so pretty you will be able to enjoy life so much that you will have to look for new kinds of stress

Glad your feeling cheery and relaxed at the moment. As for the scary stuff tomorrow - deal with one thing at a time and then have a cup of tea as a reward!

It was interesting what you said about your group discussion thing today - a few years ago I was a Festival Organiser for one of the CAMRA beer festivals in East London - it was fantastic fun, but one thing I had to do as part of it was chair meetings - it improved my confidence no end and was a really useful skill to learn.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Cheery, hope it goes well tomorrow - I couldn't bear not to open emails - I imagine the worst. Of course, sometimes they *are* bad, e.g. the ones I get from France, and then thats horrible .... don't know what the solution is.
Oh, and welll done on your group discussion thing - you were supposed to be facilitating a discussion, not being the centre of attention/controlling it, and thats exactly what you did - you got a discussion off the ground and flying! Well done you!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi Cheery
Good to see the end is in sight even though it has been a lot of hard work:T
I keep having this mad image of you running up and down the High Street in your Yellow wellies when all this is over shrieking' I've done it, I've done it!0
