  • Hi Cheery and everyone,

Not posted on here for a while but wanted to say you are so nearly there now with the PHD and - Excellenty! that you have your list and subsections sorted out ready to work through and tick off so it should all gain momentum that way. Hope the talk with your supervisor goes well too.

Hope its a good Friday for everyone :D

Well, I've just spoken to supervisor :T :T Doesn't see a problem with me getting it done over the weekend :T He also made me feel slightly better saying he was stressed by how much he had to do - is that mean of me?? :rotfl:

Anyway, he suggested that I ring the examiner and tell him I'm planning to send stuff through on Sunday <wibble> I've been avoiding doing this because once I tell him then I have to do it :o Also, I'm afraid he'll say (in a big booming scary headteacher voice) 'YOU SHOULD HAVE SENT IT BEFORE NOW!!!" :o

(obviously he won't, he's not a big booming scary headteacher, or a cartoon :rotfl: :rotfl: he's just a bloke, just an academic working in a department, and I am only a very tiny insignificant part of his work, and also he has common decency and good manners (whatever I think of his PhD examining skills :rotfl:), and I am not five years old, and he will not actually shout!)

All the same, I told supervisor I was too scared to ring, so would email instead :rotfl: Of course, that just means waiting for a scary email back, but I really couldn't face another scary phone call today! :o

So - sleeves rolled up, scary email here we come...

Cheery, you do it the way you *can* do it - and good for you for finding the right way. It still means you're committing to sending on Sunday, or had that slipped your mind :D:D:D :j:j:j

It most certainly had NOT slipped my mind KC, that's why I've avoided it so far! :rotfl: :rotfl:

(I was moaning at supervisor and said 'I guess the worst thing that can happen is that I can be thrown out of the university!' There was complete silence at the other end of the phone... I said 'hello??' He said "I'm not even going to dignify that with a response" :D :rotfl: :rotfl:)

Thanks EH :D Join me for a quick one will you? :coffee: Anyone else? Plenty to go round :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :biscuits: :D:D

Doing alright here :T :T Turned off the internet for a while, that's probably why! :rotfl: Plan for this afternoon is to do SOMETHING to every section - it'll be much easier to spend the weekend altering drafts than writing bits from scratch. I'm planning to work on this til 5pm, then stop for food and a quick walk to the shop for fresh air and treats :D

Then from 6-9 I'm going to work on chapter 4, and get that finished and put into the final draft :T :T Then from 9-10 (by which time I'll be like some kind of zombie I imagine :D) I'll go through the final draft and do all the formatting - just making sure the headings are numbered correctly, making a list for the contents page etc, indenting and checking table numbers - tedious, but doesn't need much brain power :rotfl:

Then I might have a bath if I can be bothered :D And then I'll go to sleep :D And then tomorrow all I'll have left is the conclusions (again :rotfl:) :j

Just wanted to pop in and let you know - you know that scary headteacher email I was expecting from the examiner???

After 2 hours of not opening my emails :o I opened them to find the scary one  Want to know what it said??

"Hi Cheery, that's great, I'll have a look through and let you know if there's anything else you can do before submitting the thesis. It must be a relief!"

    :D

Just goes to show what you're imagining is usually far worse than reality :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
