And pancakes :D Definitely pancakes :D

Not doing very well here :o Fed up and bored, and it's not going half as quickly as I would like :o Face starting to ache, and I'm trying not to think about tooth :o

So - I'm going to have to revise my expectations a little (as expected :rotfl:)

I WILL get my conclusions chapter finished and sent off to supervisors today

However - I might not get everything else done. But everything else can be done on the train tomorrow, and tomorrow evening, while supervisors are reading conclusions. Bit of a pain in the backside, but better than agonising over it today. It WILL get done, and I have to keep remembering that every litlte thing I do towards it helps! Need to stop fusing on the big picture (how much there is left) and focus on the little picture instead (what needs doing to this section?).

So - internet off, again :rotfl: Timer on for 15 minutes, and by the end of that I'll have a draft of this section I'm working on. Not aiming for perfection - at this stage I'm aiming for knowing what goes in every section and paragraph. I'll have another round of the whole thing once I've got this bit out of the way!

After that - another 15 minutes, and the next section. And so on.

    <yawn> <yawn> <yawn>

(sorry, I realise this is beyond tedious for you lot too! :rotfl: feel free to ignore me until I turn more interesting :rotfl:)
  • NOt tedious at all me dear

Hang on in there I feel your pain.

Am I a master of the universe too?

Or a master of the uniiverse II?

    :)

Hug, you can do it, mouse bites - like the mice in the piano - you will be cheerful and you can fix it.

Thanks Pippi (or should that be Professor Yaffle? :rotfl: :rotfl: Or Master of the Universe :D I prefer that one :D) (or master of BOTH universes :rotfl:)

Just spent half an hour on the phone to friend who just finished her PhD, and is thus now sane again and in a position to offer reasonable advice :rotfl: She reminded me that I DON'T actually need to rewrite the entire conclusions chapter, I ONLY need to do what they asked me to do! I know that, but had got myself so wound up I was trying to rewrite the whole thing...

So I'm going to do what she said, go back to the original, and JUST concentrate on the bits they asked for. It won't be perfect, but they won't be able to pull me up on it as long as I've done what they asked for... :j :j

Interestingly, had a conversation with her about her revisions. She got 'minor amendments' - which I'd assumed was the equivalent of our 'minor corrections' - for which you get 3 months. BUT - where she's studying they have minor revisions (3 months), minor amendments (more substantial, meaning you need to add bits - 6 months), and major revisions (a year). She's got the 6 month option.

When I had my viva, they told me if there was a 6 month option, they would have given me that - but my university only has 3 months or a year, so I had to have a year (and, of course, it's taken me a year :rotfl:). so here's me thinking she's passed, and I failed, when actually we've both been given the same amount to do

Ho hum, back to it, with new improved attitude of only doing what they actually asked for :D Mouse bites pippi, mouse bites indeed! :j

Oh Daffs it'll be ok! Nearly over - you must never want to look at it again by now!

And also, it's your diary, you are entitled to talk about whatever you want!

But have a nice cup of tea :coffee: and keep at those mouse bites! :D

Aw thanks you lot, you might just make me cry :o And I would LOVE a cup of tea :coffee: Mr Daffs is out though so might just have to make my own, pah!

Yes, I am in fact thoroughly sick to death of looking at the whole thing now. Absolutely sick of it. However, I'm ploughing on, and will carry on til Mr Daffs comes home to inject a bit of sanity into the proceedings :rotfl: I would LOVE to send these conclusions off tonight.

However, I'm off on fieldwork for work tomorrow, with a 3 hour train journey (starting at 7.50am), and back again in the afternoon. We'll be using an interview technique neither of us have ever used before, and conducting 4 one hour long interviews with people who either can't speak, or have very limited speech. (We're also videoing the interviews - I've never used a video camera before ). I imagine the day, while fun, will be rather stressful! So I NEED a bit of a break between this and that, and I NEED a decent enough rest tonight, and I NEED to have my clothes ready and bag packed and equipment charged and tested, and I NEED to have a bath (especially if I'm going to be videoed :rotfl: :rotfl:)!

So, while PhD is ultimate priority at the minute, I also want to do my job properly, and I won't be able to do that if i don't do all those other things tonight. So I'm having an absolute cut off of phd at 8pm tonight, and whatever I haven't done by then will have to get done tomorrow evening, and on the train on the way home.
  • Good luck with that Cheery- the end is near :)
