    Hi Cheery and everyone, I have been reading this as a bit of a lurker because it is so inspirational, but feel weird doing that and not saying anything hence this post! I am trying to get my life in order (in terms of not putting things off so much!) and I love your 'ta da' lists and have created my own, although it is on a blog rather than here as it is a bit less MSE related.

    Anyway just wanted to say keep up the good work and thanks for being entertaining too! Oh, I still haven't found out what your PhD is in...can you at least hint which field it is in as I am interested in doing a PhD and am generally interested in academia!

    Bah, I posted earlier and it vanished! Was just rambling about train tickets anyway :rotfl: £12 flexible day return, £10.85 in advance, but I wanted the flexible one, but printing it off tonight, and it would only let me print if I had the specific trains one, and by the time I'd decided to do that, 6pm had passed and the advanced ones weren't available, and it still wouldn't let me print the flexible one, and there's no point booking the flexible one in advance, cos all that does is limit my choice of machine at the station and makes it more likely I'll miss my train!

    :D

    Evening

    Brrrrrr!

    Sorry VL, missed you there yesterday, must have been posting at the same time! :T Glad you've come out into the open, the more the merrier :D (and special brownie points to you for thinking this thread is inspirational :j I sure find it inspirational to post here! :j) (Oh, and PhD is a general social sciencey-type-thing, about values and behaviour - I'm really not the best person to ask right now as I'm thoroughly sick to death of the entire thing and would probably just recommend steering well clear! :D)

    Loooong day today - left at 6.15am, slithered to the station, train delayed (but gorgeous stars, and then sunrise over frosty, misty fields), then I ended up reporting the bus conductor for ordering someone to leave their empty coffee cup on the seat of the bus stop because they 'weren't allowed' to bring it on the bus - felt much better after reporting to both bus company and city council - both of whom agreed with me that it wasn't appropriate thing for a bus company to advise or encourage! :D

    Stupid people at restaurant where we're having work Christmas do decided we all had to eat the same thing - apparently 'it's obvious' from what they sent us - which says 'please send us your set menu choices - we have attached the set menu' - to my mind that says 'get everyone to pick what they want from the set menu and tell us' - to theirs it says 'please pick one thing from the set menu and you all have to eat that' :mad:

    So had to send ludicrous email round work saying 'if you ordered terrine, you will be getting prawn cocktail', 'if you ordered pork or salmon, you will be getting turkey' :rotfl: Merry Christmas everyone! :rotfl:

    Am freezing cold, tired, and grumpy! Toooooo much to do at work, boss seemed rather grumpy today, project is getting behind, I'm now working an extra day before Christmas (at least it means I don't have to take it as annual leave), and rapidly runing out of time!

    <and... breathe......>

    On the plus side, I found out I don't have to pay my £10 contribution for Christmas dinner because I'm part of the organising committee :D So £10 extra for me :D

    Just got to wash hair, make some pancakes for tomorrow's lunch, then I'm going to curl up and go to sleep I think!

    that's a bit silly of the restuarant, how can they expect everyone to want the same if there's other things on the menu. Bah humbug to the folk.

    Apparently we're the only people eating there (there's 30 of us) - even less of an excuse in my opinion!

    Going to set the timer to MAKE me get off my backside and wash my hair (feels far too cold for such nonsense, but it'll feel worse at 6am tomorrow! :eek:) and make some pancakes (will very much appreciate at lunchtime - and I might sneak one in now too :D)
