Hugs from me too Cheery, if it helps I had a big row with OH on the phone at lunchtime and hung up on him( just remembered he hung up on me How very dare he) . Now I feel pants because it was as much my fault as his. Now not sure what mood he will be in when he arrives home Good thing is it is snowing again here and he loves the snow so that might cheer him up.
KC - don't apologise I had to have the photobucket page open to give the instructions. And I only knew how to do it because OH showed me :) And by the time I did it Cheery had already worked it out because I was that slow. You are obviously way ahead because you have already posted.

What on earth is a hypanthium bottom??! I tried squeezing it actually - it's a solid ball of ice!

No, I'm not having a very good day sadly :o And it just got a bit worse :o But it'll pass soon enough, sooner if I keep my mouth shut! :o

I know I need a day a week off at least - but I was planning that for a planned day off tomorrow to get lots of Christmassy things done! I refuse to count this one as my day off, because I've spent a lot of the day *trying* to work and being too frustrated, so no rest at all! (apart from my cheery walk :j)

Anyway, I *have* written a sentence, and planned a section :T And I have a nice cup of tea :T So the CD's going back on, the internet's going off again, and I'm going to do 40 minutes - during which I'm going to CONCENTRATE, I'm going to finish this section, and be ready to start the next (and last :j) one.

See you in a bit, thanks for the hugs, much needed today! xx

:rotfl:Good luck a bit of a botany joke sorry - the base of a rose is called a hypathium the flower comes out of the top of it or the bottom depends how you look at it - so the ice was sitting on it around the flower over its bottom. Only happens in the rose family - so us geeks laugh about having an expanded hypanthium - etc lol - I need to get a life.

Just don't start me on why apples aren't real fruits................:rotfl: or what a vegetable actually is:rotfl:etc

I'll go now and let you get on!

    It's a bottom that's wearing hyper-pants - surely you knew that...
I tried squeezing it actually -

    Ooer missus...
it's a solid ball of ice!

Time for you to get back inside then...

    :rotfl: you lot!

(((cherisong))))) pah, rows are stupid :( Hope everything calms down your end and you both enjoy the snow.

Everything rather calmer here now, thankfully, and I'm pleased to announce I've finished all four chapters, put them all in one document, sorted the formatting etc, so I now have 37,462 words ready to be read through and sent off tomorrow :T Getting there!

On the negative side - there's water flowing down the inside of the bathroom wall and collecting under the floorboards   Hoping it's just the downflow pipe blocked with leaves and frozen, so the melting snow is running down (and evidently *through*) the walls. But the walls are completely saturated, and goodness knows how long it's been soaking through the floor :(:( NOT adding to the general jollity of the household today

Ah well, not much we can do tonight, have got tubs and towels to soak up the drips, and we'll pinch the neighbour's ladder tomorrow and see what's up with the guttering.

And obviously the giant icicle on the other side of the house (that I was getting excited about earlier) means the guttering over there is blocked too. Going to have a Giant Icicle Knocking Down Adventure in the morning - will try not to be impaled

    <yawn> Life's tedious sometimes, isn't it??

Another positive though - still got some of that mash left I made the other day, so frying it up for my tea :D

Well, fried mash sounds good! Thats about it, really - I have a beautiful display of icicles, but thankfully they're all on the *outside* of the house - I know yours are too - and so is all the water. Sorry its all so pants, Cheery .. . there's an awful lot of words you can lay claim to, tho, so thats not bad either.

    Not bad at all KC!

In practical mode now - no use moping in situations like this! Have dug out a path to the drain, and got the leaves out the bottom so when the pipe thaws we don't have a river of ice running from the door to the road (managed that before - oops! Not too bad, but it's the path to several other houses too...). Mr Daffs currently hanging out of the bathroom window with a large spike on a stick attempting to knock the worst bits of ice off the pipe.

I've been out the front and waved the broom handle threateningly in the direction of the large icicle, but I was about 3 feet away so it just dripped at me :rotfl:

Cup of tea beckons I think... :coffee:

Well done on the PhDing! :T

And well done on cleaning up all the ice and leaves. But stop goading that icicle else it might do a lot worse than drip at you next time! :rotfl:

oh you have my sympathy about the soaking wet walls, that's what we have in our living room because of horrible neighbours upstairs.

Cake fest is finished and i barely licked anything. I do have a sore finger though with pushing mixture off my grandma's big old spoon into tins.
There's lots of selection and lots of cakes so i'm happy. I even used an icing bag to pipe butter cream onto the cupcakes. butter cream isn't my thing as i don't like marg/butter or really sugary things but my cats certainly like it.

Gosh LT, didn't realise cake making could lead to injury   It's a tough job, but someone has to do it I suppose :D WEll done! Can't believe you barely liked anything! Have a good time today :j :j

Well, about 20 minutes after I posted, the water stopped dripping :j :j And it hasn't dripped all night :j :j So goodness knows what happened there, think poking some of the ice off must have helped :D

I'm declaring today Christmas Preparation Day - so WI, followed by presents (I've got my list, and might just brave a trip into town!), I'll dig the decorations out of the cellar and have a tidy up so they're not just sitting on top of piles of stuff :rotfl: Also going to prepare Plan B in case we can't drive to the frozen wastelands of Northern Scotland (although it's still 2 weeks away so hopefully we will be able to by then!). NO phd today :j :j

    I'm all excited!

What did you get in your advent calendar this morning? I haven't found a cheap enough paper sparkly one without chocolates yet, so we're just using our advent book thing - it's lovely, a kid's book, fold out, 'Woodland Magic', little doors to open on each page :j Behind yesterday's window was a fox with a lantern going down to the cellar to dig out a bottle of wine :rotfl: :rotfl:
