Excellent VL, well done! :T
I've been out to put the bin out (probably futile but website says they *might come!) and now wrapped with 2 hot water bottles, PJs and several blankets

Oh what a shame Makeup! We decided we'd rather not cancel ours sadly. I'm rather expecting a snotty reply tomorrow as I informed them we needed 17 vegetarian options, and only 9 for the main course :rotfl: (I actually said 'our choice is prawn cocktail, but we'll need 17 vegetarian starters as we have several vegetarians and several people who can't eat shellfish' :rotfl:)
I'm fully expecting to get an email saying we're all getting soup - but I tried! :rotfl: (I'm also expecting them to spit in said soup )0 -
Morning all,
Brrrr! One day I might just get central heating with a timer, so it can be warm *before* I get up :rotfl:
Slept on the sofa (very toasty!), currently wrapped in blanket, clutching hot water bottle and tea
So - on the cards for today....
* 4 hours of PhD (got to get 2 chapters done - one written from scratch, the other entirely rewritten) in the next 3 days -)
* visit friend for a cuppa
* eat properly
* 4 hours of 'work' work this evening - could do without it but I'll do this today and tomorrow, we'll get something essential finished, and after the end of next week I'll have 3 weeks off! :j :j :j
* put ten books on Amazon - been putting this off for ages!
* Shred :rotfl:
* see what else can be done on Christmas present list :T
Also going to be trying not to check the weather/traffic/rail forecasts - I'm trying desperately NOT to worry about our holidays! We're leaving in a couple of weeks, and at the minute the roads are impassable and there's no trains  So even if we *do* leave, we might never make it!
But I REFUSE to have my holiday cancelled AGAIN because of the weather, absolutely REFUSE!
Best start walking then I suppose! :rotfl:
In today's advent calendar? A mouse stuffing berries into a stocking :rotfl: :rotfl:
Anybody up to anything exciting today?0 -
Sounds like a busy day - good luck!
Fingers crossed for your trip.
Exciting today.. hmmmm maybe a bit of Christmas shopping at lunchtime. Otherwise cursing PhD students
Not really, but having to do some really boring inputting involving their details and a really cr*p slow website! Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Don't be cursing the PhD student for your IT failures - there's IT people to curse for that! :rotfl: :rotfl:
To be honest, I don't have time to worry about holiday right now! :rotfl: We're going to make a decision about travel on the Saturday (we're leaving on Monday) - at that point we'll still be able to get train tickets easily. Goodness knows what happens if the trains aren't running either - I'm hoping it will have all blown itself out by then?!
Deep breaths, can't change anything by worrying about it this far in advance anyway!0 -
Hey Cheery, remember what is for you wont pass you (as my mum used to say). If it helps I am still trying to track down boarding for Moo, my whole holiday hinges on it. Failure to find somewhere means me not going, not going means that I lose the cost of the chalet as they dont do refunds so lets not panic together and know that things will sort themselves out. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

Yikes - holidays are getting really close, I didn't realise they were *quite* that close. Mind you, I should - I just had two cancellations, which means that when I finish work at 2.30 today, thats my last session of the week
at least I've got *lots* of time to do Christmassy stuff.
Cheery, I really hope you manage to get away - Monday is a while away, a lot can change by then. Think positively
you're *good* at that. 2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Sorry KC, it's not *that* close - it's a week on Monday we're going (20th) - so there's still a bit of time! Still pretty close though
It's difficult all these cancellations in this weather isn't it? Mr daffs is really suffering, most of his income for December has just been wiped out entirely. Obviously we won't starve, it's not a financial thing, it's more psychological for him, it's really worrying not to have anything coming *in* even if there's enough already *in* to deal with things, if you see what I mean
(actually, I'd be impressed if you could see what I mean, that was awfully waffly!) :rotfl:
Right - friend arranged for 1.30, so I've got 2 hours to get a grip on the PhD. Lots of beginnings and ends I think today! At least I'm dressed now - always a good start
And hot water bottle is filled, I'm sat at the kitchen table with a blanket round my knees and a cuppa :rotfl: 0 -

Hehe - OK I'll let the students off I suppose!

Cheery, how is it that you are always so, well, cheery?
Your diary is a little ray of sunshine in Diaryland.
I only got my advent calender yesterday (a Dalek!) as we forgot this year and I was pottering round the supermarket and it cost 50p. Hardcore :money: and I got to eat a week's worth yesterday. Woo hoo!
