Just finished chapter 7 :D :T :T :T :T Feeling very pleased with myself (I know I should have finished it ages ago, but this is part of the new, more productive attitude of celebrating what I *have* done rather than complaining about the fact that I didn't do it sooner :D)

So - togged up and out to the shop now, for milk, advent calendar, and, well, we'll see what they've got when I get there :D Treats, of course :D

Then a quick shower (haven't washed my hair for days - most unlike me - but it's so bloody cold!)

Then rewriting chapter 8! Not going to say I'll finish it today, because the evidence suggests otherwise :rotfl: But I can certainly make a decent headstart :T Then I can have a final read through and send 5,6,7 and 8 to supervisors tomorrow all in one go :T

Mr Daffs due back at tea time... Fingers crossed!

But is she a herbalist or a "herbalist"?

    It's not a herb really... ;)

    Why has she done that?

I talked to Wol about it when she gave me a lift back from the appointment, and said I now thought that was an old wives' tale, but Wol said there was research that *might* indicate something about the way water molecules reacted/changed/ did the hokeycokey, I dunno :o not a certainty - but if the herbalist recommends it, and a good mate says there's some evidence to support the thesis, then I listen :D

Didn't mean to spark controversy! Herbalist didn't give reasons, and I didn't press her, because I'd avoided buying a microwave for years because of my own doubts. Oh god, I'm feeling pressured now :D I'm a new age luvvie type in mse camouflage, okay? I confess, I'm a wuss. Shoot me now :rotfl:

It's alright, I was just curious...obviously I know about denaturing proteins, but I just don't believe the water thing. Especially given you can find water in stars, and the radiation profile there is somewhat less friendly than a microwave...

    It's a tough old bird - water...

  • KC you're right to have concerns about microwave ovens:

We don't have one at the minute either - but largely because the old one was so old that the bottom of it just wore right through  I'd happily live without one - did for years. Mr Daffs, however, loves cooking in them, so we're on the scrounge again. Mind you, we got rid of ours several months ago, and are refusing to actually *buy* a new one, so it may be some time :rotfl:

Been out for a walk - somehow managed to take me two hours! Gosh, it's difficult to walk in all that snow - up to my knees in some places! But I did manage to stock up on provisions (including gravy, milk, and buy-one-get-one-free reduced hot chocolate :T). Also got several Christmas presents :T Local newsagents is selling some £5.99 kids' books reduced to 99p (goodness knows why), so I've got a few in, and some sticker books, and that should be most of the children I buy for sorted out for £6 :T

Anyway, home and warm now, and since I haven't managed lunch yet, going to re-heat some of yesterday's mash-and-lentil-mush and have some proper gravy on it this time :T Then back to PhD.

Mr Daffs texted to say his band practice tonight has been cancelled, because the Christmas market they're meant to be playing at at the weekend has been cancelled. Not surprising, but it was a little bit of income for him and he won't be impressed. In fact, I suspect he might not bother coming back tonight at all, and stay where he is doing more musical things. Good for him, but a bit lonely for me! He hasn't said that yet, but I'd be willing to bet on it...
