winwinwinwinwinwinwin ......... excellent.
But good grief - the PhD examiners seem crazy, between you and Pippi .... I don'tknow how you put up with it!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Neither do I! :eek: I'll be glad when it's all over.
And I'm rather wishing I'd plucked up the courage to speak to him earlier in the year(although officially I'm not meant to speak to him at all!) could have saved myself a bit of work...
That'll teach me for not being brave!

What a great solution to the work issue. Win seems an understatement. Lateral thinking always works.
Pah to examiners and non existent corrections.
Hope you are looking forward to your little trip. It was glorious here today with the most fantastic sunrise. Also dusk brought the most beautiful skies I have ever seen, the colours were so intense of blues and lilacs and purples. I have never, in my whole life, seen something so beautiful.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Sounds absolutely gorgeous cherisong, and yes, we definitely ARE looking forward to our little trip! :T :T Sent you a text earlier (or at least tried to :rotfl: did you get it??). Can't wait to see the sea again
Ooh, and in the spirit of seizing daft opportunities... I'm off to London on Tuesday, and going to a meeting in the headquarters of the General Lighthouse Authority(Mr Daffs once nearly BOUGHT a lighthouse to live n, can you believe it?? :rotfl: and I googled it today - and it's up for sale again! For the first time since he went to view it 25 years ago :rotfl:). Anyway, turns out they have a photo competition to get a photo in the 2012 General Lighthouse Authority calendar
I like taking pictures, and like going to the seaside
And my friend who I was talking to today used to do a bit of amateur photography, and likes lighthouses... So - one or both of us is going to get our photograph in that calendar! :j :j :rotfl: :rotfl:
Always good to have a daft little projectAnd great if it's an excuse for seaside visits! :j :j

How exciting! And, um, why do the General Lighthouse Authority want to talk to you? You're a really famous photographer incognito, aren't you? You are, aren't you?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks Red, or Squizz
Had an email from boss, saying it sounds like a good suggestion, and she'll talk to the woman who's leading on the project (who will be supervised by my current boss), and arrange a meeting between the three of us :T So it sounds like it might be a plan! Fingers still crossed though, the other woman might not like it...
So - today's a bit of a busy one, and lots of things need to get done!
PHD
* fill in framework for 1, 2, 3, 4
* work out how to be brave enough to go and see examiner on Monday to talk about what else ISN'T required in thesis...
WORK
* meet colleague for lunchto sort out stuff
* reply to boss's email with available dates for meeting
HOUSE
* tidy kitchen
* washing on and hung up
* make bed and tidy attic ready for friend to stay over weekend
CHEERY
* pack for weekend away :j :j :j
* a potential tiny bit of underwear shopping while I'm in town
* check bank account, move money for weekend spends from savings to current account
Hmm - I'm sure it felt like more than that when I was lying in bed thinking about it! :rotfl:0 -
Lol I quite often find it seems like a longer list in your head than it actually is written down!
Sounds like a good productive day aheadDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
KC, much as I'd LOVE to be a really famous incognito lighthouse photographer :rotfl: I must confess to not being, in fact, I have never taken a photograph of a lighthouse in my life! :rotfl:
Sadly, the General Lighthouse Authority don't want to talk to me (not YET anyway :rotfl:) - they rent out rooms for people to have conferences in - which is what I'll be doing on Tuesday. However, I generally work on the principle that you should show interest and enthusiasm for lots of things that come your way like this, because you never know where it might lead! :j :j So was having a poke about their website - partly for directions (partly because for some reason I had the impression the conference was going to be, er, IN A LIGHTHOUSE - but obviously there aren't many of those in central London :rotfl:), and partly just because I like to know what to expect0 -
Thats a really good principle to live by! When I was going to spread betting seminars in the City of London, I walked there from London Bridge, and passed by Trinity Square (right opposed the Tower of London, incidentally!) and there's an absolutely huge memorial there for merchant seamen - quite a few generations of those in my family, so it was lovely to see it, for such a big memorial so close to such a famous site, they keep it very quiet.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
