You sound like my hubby and I. We thought of having children but the thought of giving birth terrifies me. Due to medical reasons I have to have a section if I ever get pregnant.
I do already have a daughter, but to someone else. I'm due to marry my fiance next year and he's mentioned kids but I just don't want another, especially as DD's birth and the following few months was just awful.
I'm getting OH a puppy instead
(Am I deluded? Will it keep him happy or am I going to have to give in and let him father at least one child?)0 -

I have just found out I am pregnant after more than a year of trying and was beginning to think I would never get pregnant! Now I just found this thread....
I have a lot to learn lolOur dream has come true...0 -
When I fell pregnant I worked in Aberdeen and had prenatal care there. I moved back to my hometown before I gave birth but decided to have baby in the Aberdeen as they don't give epidurals in hometown. In the end she was overdue and was induced in Aberdeen at 9am. A pessary was inserted. Nothing happened all day.
I was on a ward full of woman who were due to get induced the next day. At 1am OH was told he'd have to leave so he went to our car and slept in a sleeping bag. At half two I heard a pop and felt my waters break  and buzzed the MF. She came and asked me if my knickers were wet and when I said no she said they haven't broken yet then and walked off. As it was my first time I didn't like to shout after her that my knickers weren't wet because I wasn't flamin wearing any. :rotfl:
An hour later I buzzed and got another MF who I told I was in pain and they gave me pethidine injection and I was put back to bed. Contractions had well and truly started by this time but couldn't make a noise as the other women on the ward were trying to sleep. They wouldn't let me call OH either. I sat on the toilet in the ward for nearly an hour clearing everything out. Eventually at 6 after having contractions for over 3 hours in silence with no-one by my side they decided to let me go to the labour ward. Then I was allowed to call OH.
By the time I was on the ward I was too far dilated to get an epidural so it had been a waste of time me going to this hospital.
I was given gas and air but don't think it helped with the pain but the biting down on it helped a bit. The side of the bed wasn't secured so everytime I had a contraction I pulled on it and it pulled right up.
DD was born at 8.58am. Didn't really notice delivering the placenta was too busy with the baby.
An hour later I wanted a shower but because they were all full I had to shower in the nurses shower by myself. Was so strange feeling my hollow belly and my swollen bits.
I asked when I could leave the hospital as I had a bed booked in the hometown hospital but had to wait 6 hours. Eventually at 3 they let me go. We made on to the staff that my OH was driving but as he had only a provisional licence there was no way I was letting him drive my precious baby 60 miles home so I drove. We got to Hometown hospital and asked if we could just go home as baby and myself were fine. They agreed. :T
My daughter is probably the youngest person ever to go through a MacDonalds drive thru at the age of 8 hours. :rotfl: We were starving. Was so good to come home to our own house.
DD is now 6 and we are trying for no 2. I want a home birth this time. Have suggested this a few times but not getting much encouragement from family so far, but tough it's not them doing it. We're only 4 miles from hospital if something goes wrong and I'd rather be in my own house and I can make as much noise as I want.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -
Good luck with homebirth scottishchick!
I have been told to book a homebirth (even though I REALLY don't want one!!) as DS arrived in 7 hours from waters to birth I think the official from 3cm time was 2.5hrs:eek: they said 2nd baby is usually 2 - 3 times quicker and therefore might have to have HB but I'll be going to hosp as soon as I get signs and refusing to leave until my bump becomes a baby!!
have to say I'm not very worried about birth again as 1st one was a bit of a breeze just worried that my 1 and only V vain and strech mark will get some company.
I thankfully didn't poop in labour but remember holding in the post birth poop for as long as possible - that 1st one is scarier than the prospect of birth!!
one thing I'll never forget is seeing the MW pulling on the cord to get the placenta out, She looked like she was using the cord to absail down the edge of the bed - Yuk!0 -
You will get nuisance calls when you are pregnant...
I would offer the advice of not answering the phone for least a week before your due date, as you will get all the 'has she had it yet' phone calls. I am also going to put my mobile on silent cos i have had 'any news yet' texts. These calls and texts will come from your CLOSEST friends and family members, who you previously thought had enough faith in you to tell them or get someone to tell them AS SOON AS you have had the baby
As of today I am only picking up messages off the phone or if OH picks up he is under strict instructions to tell whoever it is that I am RESTINGMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Just to put you all off your dinners, I bled for 6 weeks after having my son, and yes I did do a poo on the delivery table. This was the one thing I was the most paranoid about - I had this thought that it would put hubby off me forever so I was determined not to do it. So when I thought I was going to do one I went into the loo of my delivery room - the midwife found me in there panting 10 mins later and told me to get back on the bed sharpish as I was about to deliver. Poo and baby arrived pretty much simultaneously.0

Yep giving birth feels like the biggest poo you have EVER done. And rthen some...
Even if you ask them 'did i sh*t myself' they will say no but you usually will have done.
My Midwife said you get an enema if you have not 'been' for 4 days prior to the birth. My advice, keep yourself regular!!!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

We should think ourselves lucky really as enema was routine about 40yrs ago, I didn't need one as shortly after my waters broke My digestive system decided to clear itself out TMI ALERT!!! (both ends) I was still at home at that point so only hubby witnessed it and by that time he was well used to seeing my sat on the loo while holding a bucket!! ooh I'm so not looking forward to that with my toddler around aswell!!0
